Time for another poll!

Based on the latest odds, I've selected prominent names who could do the job,

Who do you want? Not who do you expect.

Andre Villas-Boas! Fucking hell, he can't really be an option, can he?

Three of those I don't even know. Surely the club aren't going to get themselves another 'project' manager by selecting some fringe candidate?

i hope not. But his name is plastered on the front of the Telegraph segment talking about us.

His 'profile' matches what FSG are looking for - young, potential and ambitious...

And yet you've included Ancelotti and Rafa on your little list.

I've opted for the most prominent lists on various odds checkers. giving a variety of different profiles.

Would you have liked AVB and the valencia manager, rudi only list?

I went for Simeone - I am concerned that Ancelloti, good as he is, will not have the resources with us to compete whereas Simeone is used to bringing the best out of good players.

Is there a reason why Unai Emery almost never gets mentioned when a job at a relatively big club is open? Serious question. Does he have a bad rep or something?

No I just mean that's a fairly random list of managers who are likely to be between jobs this summer. Some on there fit this supposed FSG profile, some don't. For that matter we might as well add Allardyce and Redknapp to the list. It's just completely random.

All lists have to start from somewhere.

I was under the impression he was Milan bound?

I read a mention of that in Football Italia (about him signing a pre-contract), but I'm not sure if that's the equivalent of the Metro. 😀 Would be interesting to see how he fares in Milan if he does make the move. He's pretty much done what he could best hope to do with Valencia previously, and despite them finishing 5th again this season, Sevilla lost out on 3rd place only by a couple of points and after clocking a big 15-point improvement in the process. Still with a very good chance of winning the Europa League and qualifying for the CL group stage.

I think the greatest stipulation I have for the next manager is I don't want another cuddly fella who is going to come in, throw his arms around the club and swear his unconditional love from day one. I want a ruthless, cold-hearted bastard who is going to come in and announce 'Your club (note, not our club or my club) is a mess and I'm here to sort it out so if you'll excuse me, I have work to do.'

It's a bit of a puzzle, isn't it? I remember looking at his record when Dalglish was still here and thinking it was about as impeccable as a young coach's could be, and yet soon after Valencia fans were apparently desperate to get rid.

Since then he seems to have gone on again. I seem to remember he also speaks fluent English, surprisingly.

Anyway, he'd be one along with Rudi Garcia and Koeman and probably a few others who are below the likes of Klopp but still much preferable to keeping Rodgers on.

Yeah, Rudi Garcia is also a great shout. Sadly signed a new contract with Roma and I doubt he'd leave them now.
Not sure about Koeman tbh.

But this one has no end to it because it's so random. Where's the Glenn Hoddle option? He might be up for a return to management. Lawrie Sanchez...

mate, the latest odds checkers didn't have those names on it.

it's not so random - half the list are established managers who most suspect will be leaving their jobs, the other half are up and coming managers. Rafa is the default option for clubs in crisis and need a stop gap.

I remember when Valencia got rid of Emery apparently for not competing more with Barca and Real - madness. They fell apart the next season.

I think he's a good coach but we'd be need a shit hot setup around him to get the players in.

De Boer for me, I think Klopp may have peaked already, he looks fucking exhausted, where as De Boer strikes me as a manager who wants to prove himself on the big stage and is just getting started. Ancellotti never won anything without being the richest club the league so hes a non starter unless hes after one last payday in which case we are better off without him

He flies out today. Not sure whether the meeting itself takes place today or not.

As it's a vote for whom we want, as opposed to whom FSG seem likely to go for, I voted Ancelotti. I'd be wary of appointing Klopp straight after such a poor season by his standards. De Boer has done well domestically but, by contrast, has flopped in Europe. Simeone seems a Souness type who would tear everything up by the roots regardless, instead of keeping what's good and changing the rest. Ancelotti, having won so much already, might just fancy the challenge of a different type of job, getting a fallen giant back to the top, plus he's got the experience and the class that IMO the Liverpool job needs.
