PL Opposition Tidbits

A small part of me thinks the Shitty hierarchy know the 130 charges have gone BAD for them and they’ve just given up.

So I was thinking, who had it worse, us or Man U, after the last time both teams won the league? Basically who had the worse title drought?

In the 12 years since Man U last won the league, they've won the following:

2 x FA cup (15/16, 23/24)
2 x League cup (16/17, 22/23)
1 x Europa League (16/17)

In the 12 after we won the league (89/90):

2 x FA cup (91/92, 00/01)
2 x League cup ( 94/94, 00/01)
1 x Uefa cup (2001)

Conclusion: We live in a simulation.

Edit:
Charity shield twice each as well.
. . . and the worst we ever finished in the Premier League was 8th. United's worst finish - 8th last season under Ten Hag.

Poor guy at Southampton is surely done at this point
Can't overlook the pressure on managers. What Martin is going through right now is like having one of your worst ever days at work ever, but someone is live-streaming it on YouTube so everyone can watch you suffer.
Feel for the guy.

I think we had it better. I was only a kid so I might be being nostalgic but even at our worse we played decent, entertaining football. Plus there was no Internet for to be memed to tbe skies.

Kelly Cates ‘to replace Gary Lineker on BBC’s Match of the Day’

Presenter will reportedly leave Sky Sports to join a revamped team including Mark Chapman and Gabby Logan for next season

Kennys daughter gets the hot seat - that's a good hire by the BEEB. They'll all rotate between shows. I just hope they don't mess with the format too much. I fear it'll go all Tiktokky.

I'm 100% okay with it. Most of us don't get fired with massive, multi-million pound payouts if we fail.

Ugh. Hate her. By trying to appear neutral she comes across as anti-Liverpool. Always making digs. The female Owen or Macca.

I'm surprised that manager contracts are evolving yet. They still appear to be long term with a lot of liability when sackings happen. A PL club could (in my view) still attract ambitious managers on 1 - 2 year deals, and have clauses that reduce their pay out for being terminated if they don't meet expectations. There are a lot of 'meh' managers around the mid - lower table and a lot of names who would take that risk in order to get their reputation out there.

I wonder who will be first to successfully do this.

Other than Judge Jules most of us were kids. Souness Football started our downfall, a legend he was but when he came to Liverpool it didn't work
Evans played exciting football but even in his own words it was Kamikaze.
GH, god rest his soul but it was horrible, one famous pundit labelled our style, "Shit on stick"

I remember those years, even though I too was a kid. I think nostalgia does distort our memories a little in this case, cause if I remember it correctly we were never really challenging for the league except the season after we won it in 89/90.
Don't forget that we lost the FA cup final against Man U too and that one hurt, bad.

To be completely honest, I don't like thinking about that time in our history. Yeah there were positives like Fowler, Macca, Owen, Collymore, Berger etc but I also feel like they're the lost generation because we had the potential to be so much better.

We surrounded top class talent with mediocre players. We had a joke of a keeper in goal.
Rudduck, Babb, Kvarme, Björnebye, Dicks etc in defence.

I'm not the biggest fan of Houllier, but he finally sorted out our defence.

It would be interesting to read what those who were adults during that time think.

Wolves going for Vitor Pereira as manager it seems. Never heard of him but Transfermarkt has his average term as manager at 1,13 years so he sounds perfect for Wolves.

Apparently he's the guy that Everton nearly went for but the supporters kicked up a stink. The board backed down and went with Lampard instead.

In my view she’s better than most in the [sports] media. I must have watched the wrong reviews as I’ve never heard the anti-Liverpool digs
Now I've mentioned it you'll notice 😉 Never states the obvious positives and always stresses the negatives, they've not played anyone good was oft mentioned until recently and 3 unsigned contracts ad nauseum. She's a right PITA. Can't stand her.

I always thought Kellys role was to provoke the pundits to talk; say the obvious talking points but not really give an opinion. For example the "they've not played anyone yet" was an overarching theme in the media; same as the contracts. i don't think it's a kelly thing.

Chelsea were inviting Brentford to come back into that game yesterday. A better finish from Carvalho and Chelsea drop points.
As others have said I don't think Chelsea are title challengers in the long run with that defense and that GK. Just not good enough over 38 games.

I agree.
I think we're a better team than Chelsea. However, I think they might be better equipped to beat other teams in the league since they have a massive squad. So while we're dropping points against Fulham because of injuries and fatigue, they're beating these mid to lower table teams.
That being said, I'm confident that we'll beat them at Stamford Bridge in May, but this could turn out to be a tight race.
