PL Opposition Tidbits

Rashford just announced that he wants to leave Man U and their fans are rattled.
This is the same fanbase who wanted him gone last season.

all it took was being dropped for a match 😂

he should’ve moved a while back, probably been overly loyal (and extremely well paid) to a club floundering from manager to manger his entire senior career. i’d guess it’s not entirely one sided fault here though, he might be one of the melts responsible for the seemingly consistent shite attitude amongst the players for the longest time.

i’m not entirely sure how good he is either but he did look the part a few seasons ago.

PSG, Saudi, Munich, Inter, Juve, maybe Barca. Seems like a good fit for foreign sides happy to take on english players and make them look like stars in their weaker league. all depends on the fee though i guess.

It’s announced that he was surplus to requirements and would be sold yesterday / isn’t he just responding to that by saying “yep, fuck this shit… I’m off!!!”.

With the wages he’s on, no-one’s paying a fee for him - Utd will likely end up forking out half his wages.

I reckon they’ll have to loan him out.

I am intrigued by the idea of us getting him, with Utd paying half his wages, and turning him back into the goalscoring monster he was 2 years ago.
I know, I know ... but it is an appealing concept

Yeah… but he plays on the left amongst other reasons to not touch him with a barge pole.

What is more exciting news is that apparently Harry Maguire is having positive talks about extending his Man Utd contract.

There’s me thinking Christmas was next week…

The rashford stuff is hilarious. For years he's been seemingly in charge of a group of players who have managed to oust a fair few managers; new manager comes in, backed by new owners who had seen through the bullshit, and it's toys out the pram

It's great

Who is spending big money on a 27 year old Rashford who is looking decidedly average these days?

Surely even PSG are past the point of this kinda shit by now.

We have at least two left sided forwards better than him, and arguably Nunez & Jota both also better in that position too.

I think he'll either end up at Newcastle or in the MLS

Is it though?

It's stoking more anti-owner rhetoric in united fans, focused more on Ineos this time though. This, after the Christmas party stuff, the raising of ticket prices; it's all very close to going gold and green over there again. A successful club is a harmonious club. Long may discontent continue over there.

Rashford on his day is great, so I'm ok with him leaving there as long as he doesn't find his form at a rival.

And as keni says; who is actually going to pay the money for him? Every chance he stays there and runs the contract down

Just to clarify, for the people who took me seriously - I am really not advocating we buy Rashford; but I do like the concept of him coming here & becoming the Rashford of 2 years ago as it would seriously piss off the mancs; then, if they had to pay half his wages, it would be so much sweeter again

Oh i absolutely adore the idea, but i know you don't want him

Yeah, if we could somehow fix Garnacho’s mongy face and get him cheap, he’d be a great addition to our Reserve team’s bench.

The thing that strikes me about Ratcliffe is that he comes across as, what I guess he is, a sociopathic corporate guy that never takes responsibility for anything other than firing people left right and centre when they don’t do his bidding.

I’m not sure his model works…, or for it to work it’s going to require a fuck tonne of money and the sort of patience he doesn’t seem to have.

If Amorim is actually serious, there isn’t anybody in that first team squad, apart from maybe Manoo and Diallo that’s worth keeping (possibly Yoro but too early to tell with him).

That’s the challenge - they’re all complicit in Utd being shite - so the longer they keep the majority of those players there, the better it is.

Rashford is beyond saving as a player in this league. The 24 year old Rashford would have been a great signing but that player is long gone.

Was the 24 year old one that good? My foggy memory is he had great purple patches and long droughts.

I think he had about 2 seasons where he looked consistently good before it all went to shit. Might coincide with publishing a book written by that annoying Anka neek

He looked good that season he had 30 goals for them, but yeah you might be right and that he was more a streaky player and for some reason did well against us. Just thought at the time that this was player Klopp would have loved to coach and work with.

Yeah, I don’t think he was ever truly world-class, even in his best season - it always felt like was just an exceptionally effective cut-in-and-shoot merchant and once teams figured out how to stop it, there wasn’t much else there. He would have to be incredibly driven like Salah to evolve his game and he’s simply not that.
