PL Opposition Tidbits

Just had a pop into RedCafe to check on their feelings re. Amorim. Was absolutely gobsmacked to see the general consensus was top 4 or 5th at a push was realistic

The way City are playing at the minute, they might have a chance.

One thing that favours Chelsea is that they're not in the League cup and they're playing a Mickey mouse cup in Europe. We might have better players, but they'll have a fresher squad.

They are currently (mostly) playing two different squads for Europe and the PL !

If we had a physio that could have brought Thiago back from the dead we would have done this sort of thing first.
It would have looked a bit like this

Excuse me… the mighty Larne FC are playing in that competition.

We nearly got our first point a few weeks back!!!

And they binned off the league cup.

Chelsea look great going forward, but suspect at the back. Maresca is the Italian Brendan.
Tiny sample and I don't really know the circumstances about last year but didn't Leicester nearly bottle the title after being about 15 points clear with 3 months to go?

The former coach of the Chinese national men's football team has been sentenced to 20 years in jail for bribery, state media reported.

Li Tie, who also played for Everton in the English Premier League, confessed earlier this year to fixing matches, accepting bribes, and offering bribes to get the top coaching job.

The case shows how President Xi Jinping's anti-corruption crackdown has cut through sport, banking and the military.

Earlier this week, three former officials from the Chinese Football Association (CFA) were also handed jail sentences for bribery. More than a dozen coaches and players have been investigated.

So I was thinking, who had it worse, us or Man U, after the last time both teams won the league? Basically who had the worst title drought?

In the 12 years since Man U last won the league, they've won the following:

2 x FA cup (15/16, 23/24)
2 x League cup (16/17, 22/23)
1 x Europa League (16/17)

In the 12 years after we won the league (89/90):

2 x FA cup (91/92, 00/01)
2 x League cup ( 94/94, 00/01)
1 x Uefa cup (2001)

Conclusion: We live in a simulation.

Edit:
Charity shield twice each as well.

Edit 2: it's actually 11 years since they won the title. This season would make it 12. Still the same trophy haul.

So City scored from a set piece, but can't believe how much of the ball Manure are getting. City don't look arsed. United look arsed but can't do anything with it. Amad is the only player they've got who looks slightly dangerous.

As ever, Walker is an embarrassment

That's actually quite interesting 🙂

The day Mane signed, he came into the offices at Chapel Street and said "Hello everyone" and nobody replied because we just weren't used to the players even acknowledging our existence. I remember thinking that he must have thought we were all rude and that he'd have that knocked out of him after a few months at Melwood, but it turned out Klopp thought that kind of behaviour was the minimum expected, and the staff noticed it when the players stopped being up their own arses (a few of them were always decent, TBF).
The only time I met Klopp, the tea lady came in to offer to make a round of drinks and there was an obvious warmth between him and her, it's just how he rolls. People are the most important thing.

Yes, people are the most important thing. You can have all the money in the world and still be the unhappiest, loneliest bloke on this planet.

Klopp gets it. That's why he's much loved and well respected. Even those who dislikes him, likes him eventually.
I'd also like to believe that our lizard owners kinda get it too, otherwise they wouldn't have gone for him. Don't think it was a fluke either.

You can spend millions to build a stadium, but you can't build a culture with money.

I was also wrong about Slot. Btw, off-topic does anyone not find Slot looking like a bald Elon ?

Anyway back to my point, I can see why FSG went for Slot. Because i think, like Klopp, he gets it.
