Philippe Coutinho, Part II

Here in Brazil he never caught anyone's attention, I was surprised when Inter came for him. He is no Neymar, Ganso, or Lucas, that's for sure.

Coutinho is not really very good at all.

Inter wanted to get their own Pato and bought someone who looks similar.

He's a mid-table player at the very best... worth 10m at most.

The lightweight argument isn't bollocks though. Some light players have great balance, some don't. Some relish a physical challenge, some don't. It's as much about mentality as physique. I remember how Pongolle used to bounce off opposition defenders like a pinball. He was lightweight, and not suited to this league. Reyes at Arsenal was a pussy, and hated getting clattered all the time. He wasn't suited to this league. Then you have players like Silva, who have the balance, guile, and resilience to thrive in the Premiership.

I have no idea which category Coutinho falls into but I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Its a good thing the lightweight theory is bollocksed every time then.
I remember people saying the same with Silva and Oscar.

Having played in La Liga, Serie A and the CL this lad will adjust just fine.

It's proven the other way enough times too - Smicer, Sahin, Kezman.

Sahin was here for a couple of months. He would have adopted given time imho. 7 league games isnt enough to judge a player.
Kezman was just shite.
Smicer I'm not sure about tbh.

Coutinho has great balance, technique and pace. Which means he'll deal with the pace of the League.
If he has balls he'll adjust no problem. Reyes didnt.

Having seen him in La Liga, Serie A and the CL I think he'll have no problems adopting.

I just hope we dont write him off after 60 odd mins against WBA

*wonders if Modric is considered 'lightweight'*

Every foreign player who is lighter than Richard Dunn is considered "lightweight."

Actually Coutinho looks more stocky in the recent pictures than I've ever seen him. Will be interesting to see what kind of shape he is in when he finally gets to play.

Doesn't matter what shape he may or may not appear to be in.

If he doesn't recreate the Youtube clips form in the first 2 or 3 appearances, there will be a "Coutinho Was A Mistake/Is A Flop/I Told You He Was Too Lightweight" thread.

Have you used him in Fifa yet?
Haven't played for a while, so no. Is he any good?

My previous comment wasn't about him not being good, I just wonder how he Sturridge and Suarez will be able to play together up front without us not decimating our midfield.

Speaking of lightweight, can I get more likes for this?

For what it's worth, I like him on Fifa, although even on that he's lightweight to fuck.....

The last new player we bought that I liked on Fifa was Babel though.... Oh.

We have a trend of signing players that I've been after on Fifa/Footy Manager. Sturridge, Suarez, Mascherano, Alonso are ones that I can think of. I'm sure there's a whole host of terrible ones, though.
