Pep Lijnders watch

He's going to be global head of football for Red Bull and Salzburg are one of their clubs, so he'll (presumably) be Lijnders' boss again.

As long as Lijnders sticks around, that is.

Outplayed and beaten 2:0 by Dinamo Zagreb at home. Bajcetic came on as a sub on 58th minute. Surely just a matter of time for Lijnders…

I actually watched the Salzburg highlights and you can immediately see what their problem is - they cannot defend. At all. Leaving huge spaces between the lines and thus vulnerable on the counter, not doing any better in positional defence, a general feeling of uncertainty any time opposition has the ball. Zagreb players who were beaten 9:2 in their last away game started the game defending deep, but soon realized that their opposition is inept and ended the game cutting through Salzburg at will; it could have been 4 or 5.

Pep genuinely might be the worst head coach in the Champions League and Europa League at the moment. Maybe the worst in years.

Clearly a coach who got the job on merit from his Liverpool connection. They look awful. Weird that Salzburg made such a bad appointment as they are usually good at finding the right people.

Maybe was a recommendation from Klopp as there was something about him having conversations with them in Dec. i would imagine Pep is great at something but just not all.

Red Bull likely knew Klopp's leaving plans shortly after the club, if not before, and it was common knowledge Pep would start his managerial career at that point. They fired their coach in early March so had loads of time to evaluate options, too. RB Salzburg really had no excuses for not knowing all there was to know about him and not be blustered by bullshit. I have to say, though, I thought he'd do well, and it seemed a club at the right level for his level of experience/learning he's acquired from the game. I haven't watched their games, but I'm pretty miffed anyone could spend so long with Jurgen Klopp and not set a team up.

Pep's had a full pre-season so at the very least the players should be fit enough to do what he demands of them. Is it the case that's Peps got overly familiar with working with top level footballers and athletes? Have they read his book and declared him a knobhead? It is all a marketing ploy? Did Red Bull just want a manager who always looked wired and energised in press conferences?

Maybe it's just as simple as his connections being the primary factor in him getting the job?

He'll have to go if this carries on for much longer and then it'll either be a case of either trying again at a small / lower league club or acknowledging that he's not cut out to be the #1 guy.

Oh I'm sorry. I did it solely for the aim of commenting on threadmanship. And that is a word I first learned from one of your own members. Bradley (or somethin') who made a post solely for the sake of making a comment about the quality/humour/etc. of the thread title. So I thought that things like that are not frowned upon. (I thought I was being humourous and cool/interesting like that Bradley fella. Not sure I remember his username well but his profile photo is that of Big Lebowski, also known as "The Dude." From the Cohen brothers movie. I'm sure I remember that very well. I thought he or others, perhaps, might find it amusing and offer some sort of a reply on thread titles. Will not happen again.)

Fuck, if you looked through the history of my posts I think 95% are oul shite.
No man. It was by accident. I was looking up things about goalkeeprs so I noticed your post. (I like to try and keep myself in-the-know, lol). And I guess I was inspired. I thought it went well with your profile photo. Like it was a spot on comment re your photo. Like a thing a dude at the bowling game/match/whatever, drinking beer would make.

Lijnders sent off after 2 yellow cards. 6 points behind last season's Champions but with 2 games in hand.

Terrible loan for Bajcetic.

Should've gone to a far better league where he could learn from more experienced players around him.......he's one of the more senior players at that dump, not sure what we were hoping for out of this. We have some real proper clowns at this club.

I think we loaned him out to them as a favour to Pep
