Yep, can work under strict financial conditions and has suceeded relatively well in europe.

How many goals did Madrid score again? If Kenny is not getting the position then I hope this bloke is ahead of Roy.

Rumour has it he was spotted in Heathrow with Kenny. It was probably only Broughton since they look alike.

And speaks English, I'd be delighted with him

From Wiki

In La Liga Madrid achieved a club record of 96 points, however it was not enough to finish above Barcelona, who won the championship with 99 points. He was sacked by the club on 26 May 2010. Pellegrini is expected to meet with representatives of Liverpool Football Club on June 18th 2010 to discuss the possibility of taking over the vacant managerial hotseat at Anfield. Although he said Hicks is a knob and doesnt want to work for him. [7]

because supposed people "in the know" are spreading rumours and it sounds plausible

especially since we're mangerless and the other option is Hodgson.

Doesn't mean it's true of course.

Reminds me of a story which did the rounds back in Shanks' day, presented as trufax though I don't know if it was or not. The story went that there was a poster outside a church in Liverpool which said "What would you do if Jesus came back?", underneath which someone added: "Move St.John to inside-left".

I'm not sure, Anita. At least Hodgson has loads of international experience from before he started at Fulham, and he now knows the Prem well. We just parted company with a manager who had good credentials for the job from La Liga but ultimately failed to bring the title home.

I just don't know how well he'd do in keeping and attracting stars, at least Pellergrini is known and respected throughout Europe.

Actually I'll bet Hodgson matches him in both respects. Not that I want Hodgson (I'm firmly in the Dalglish-as-caretaker camp) but - not without some hesitation - I'd take him over Pellegrini.

There may not be any Benitez's or Mourinho's about - but Pellegrini is certainly the closest to that standard.

My only issues were his age and inability to speak English, but he's younger than I previously thought and if he speaks the language then he should certainly be considered.

I don't think Dalglish is going to be appointed, so people need to move on.
