The agent of highly-rated Juventus left-back Paolo De Ceglie has claimed that Liverpool are interested in signing the 22-year-old, dependent on the future of Andrea Dossena.
Carlo Pallavicino, De Ceglie’s agent, said: "Liverpool are seriously interested, it all depends on Andrea Dossena and whether they will sell him. If they do then they would like to replace him with De Ceglie."
De Ceglie has come through the ranks at Juventus and after a successful year on loan at Siena in 2007/2008, he made a breakthrough into the "Old Lady" first team during 2008/2009.
The 6.0ft left back, who can also play in midfield, played 23 games, picking up two yellow cards and also providing two assists. He is contracted to Juventus until the end of the 2011/2012 season and is believed to be worth around six million euros.
Scouts in Italy describe De Ceglie as "one of the best young talents in Italy today, he is strong, fast and has very good crosses with his excellent left foot." Although he is yet to play for the full Italy national team, he was part of the squad at the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008.
