[quote author=BBC sport link=topic=44673.msg1309453#msg1309453 date=1301762185]Norwich handed a debut to Pacheco, the young forward on loan from Liverpool, and were quickly rewarded when the Spaniard cut the ball back for Holt to slot home an early opener at the near post.

He obviously has talent but like all players his age he needs games so we can see how real that talent is . Again it's the debate of what to do with young developing players , it's so hard to jump from reserve football to our first team . It's hard to judge a player on a few minutes here and there or a carling cup game . We need to judge them over 15-20 decent standard games so i see no real option bar loaning them out which we don't really do except when they are close to being shipped out .

The reserve league just isn't good enough for Pacheco.

You need to loan young players out to decentish sides to bridge the gap. I only hope we haven't left it too late.

Re: Pacheco starts

The little Spainiard wasn't bad too, class player definatly more to come from him. And if/when we go up i hope we can get him for another season.

Paul Lambert believes the debut of young Spanish loanee Dani Pacheco was as good as he has seen.

The Liverpool and former Barcelona youngster was too hot to handle as Norwich City ran relegation-haunted Scunthorpe United ragged at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon, hammering the 10-man visitors 6-0.

Hat-tricks from Grant Holt and second-half substitute Simeon Jackson decided matters for second place City, while Pacheco’s performance will have eased the sight of Wes Hoolahan limping out with a hamstring injury.

That could mean Hoolahan, who was also on top form against the Iron, is a major doubt for next weekend’s mouth-watering clash with automatic promotion rivals Swansea City in Wales.

“I thought from the off we were outstanding,†said Lambert, who was delighted with the debut of on-loan Liverpool star Dani Pacheco.

“The tempo of the game was great, the new lads have certainly given the place a lift and the way we played was excellent.

“I thought his debut was as good as I’ve seen. I thought he was brilliant, he lifted the crowd.

“The hype about him was over the top. People thought he was just going to come in here like Lionel Messi. He’s only a 20-year-old kid learning the game, but I thought his performance was fantastic.
â€

As for Scunthorpe manager Alan Knill, taking charge of his first game since leaving Bury on Thursday, the defeat did not knock his sense of humour.

““I’ve been in one day, watched training Friday and it confirmed what I thought,†he said. “When a team is second from bottom, you know there are some problems and I knew that when I came.

“I think we can definitely be better than that. It’s extremely difficult with 10 men against a really good side, but the good thing is I’ve only got (Championshp leaders) QPR next Saturday.â€

It's fucking mental that in 2011 you can find a video in half decent quality of a spanish kid getting an assist against fucking Scunthorpe!

I cannot wait to be able to watch Burton albion in 3d on a weekly basis! :🙂

Infuriates me even more now that he wasn't given a chance against Braga.

i love the way they play a bit of music every time norwich score, really helps the atmosphere! da da da-da daa da da!

we should do something like that at anfield. maybe the dandy warholes or something.

Good performance that, he set up the first goal and the penalty aswell with a well weighted ball and then set up another chance from which Norwich hit the post.

They don't need atmosphere, pete.

You should see what the town is like after they've won a game.

I could walk down a street and get a play-by-play commentary.

*Shaking my head in disbelief*

Hope he leaves and becomes a very successful player.

I'd rather if he was going to become a very successful player, it was here.

I think he's been treated unfairly considering the dross that have played instead of him time and time again. I don't want him to leave, but I think it's the best move for his career.
Clearly Kenny doesn't rate him.

Oh wow, Braga.
Oh wow, Sparta Prague.

Oh wow, West brom.

Yeah Jovanovic and Cole have been absolutely sublime this season.

It was a breath of fresh air to see Pacheco come out and look alive today, over the past few weeks we've really struggled to find a second striker to really complement the team since Martin has been out due to injury. Pacheco came in and really looked as if he had come to prove a point, looking like he'd played with the team for ages. It would have been great to see him get on the scoresheet in his debut.

Generally I've heard a fair few good things about him and am looking forward to seeing if he can live up to the hype, today was a great start but Scunthorpe were woeful and looked as though they were completely unprepared for what we can dish out, hopefully he will stay bright for our upcoming games with Forest and Swansea still to come.

If Pacheco gets them promoted 2 months before I go home permanently and leave a home 20 minutes walk from Carrow Road I will not be amused.

One player cannot be blamed for an entire teams shitness. We couldn't get the ball out if our half in those games. If pacheco is a talent he'll be kept, but he needs to display it. When he played for the first team (the few times he did) he looked ridiculously disinterested. He needs to bulk up and adapt.

I agree. The point I'm trying to make is that he should have at least been given a shot.
What has Spearing exactly done to deserve a chance despite him being Scouse?
Spearing might have done well in the reserves but the only player I keep hearing about is Pacheco.

He will have a sterner test at Swansea but to paraphrase PL, his debut could not have been better.

His passing was sublime. More of a provider than scorer yesterday

Pacheco really impressed, good vision, good passing always looking for one twos, always finding space and gave us some much needed pace.

He is going to be a star thats for certain...very very clever player..we are so lucky to have him.

I'm thrilled for Pacheco that he is finally getting some first team football. His debut went well now lets see if he can continue to put in the performances. If he can show some consistency, then he'll force Kenny to reconsider. A loan move is good for all concerned.
