Other weekend games.

I think Chelsea and City have an easier fixture list than us.

I reckon we'd have to win every single game from now to do it.

That would obviously give us the best chance!

However we'd be damn close & them losing against us & two other sides isn't a massive stretch either, esp if they have other competitions to worry about.

It's all ifs & buts cos we seem to lose one match every 3/4 games by this season that we really shouldn't (inexperience/tiredness through pressing game perhaps?) so based on that we'll drop at least six points somewhere along the line.

I'm not giving up hope by any means though.

Tbh it's just a rush to be able to think about it in March!

The top five teams are so close, if we are going to get third, we might as well win the damn thing!!

This is as good a chance as we'll get.
The stars are aligned now we just have to do our part.

Its fantastic!

I'm not giving up either. Not until its mathematically impossible.
But CL is still the most important thing imho. One game at a time until thats sorted and then dream about the title.
I think we need to win 9 out of the last 10 to win it.
Maybe 8 and draw 2.
It would be amazing if we're right behind Chelsea when we play them at Anfield and have it all in our own hands.

One game at a time though. Starting with the Mancs.

I think if we were to win every game, which isn't going to happen, we'd win the league. I think the others will drop points outside of the games against us.
Spurs keep plugging away the bastards, big game for them against Chelski next weekend, which will either blow the title wide open, or will finish off any remote chance spurs had at 4th.

We should aim for the title. Feck all this 3rd and top 4 talk. We are Dumbledores Army and the Redmen must march on throught the wind and the rain. Onward and upward we go.

Disagree. I take us to get even closer next season and be real contenders from day one.

Clinch a Champions League place then go all out attack in however many remaining games there are. The only danger of thinking now obsessively about winning the league is that, if we lose a big game, we might lose all momentum after that through the deflating impact it has.

I'm sure that's how most of the players are thinking, I bet Stevie is dreaming of lifting the trophy though, which may be a bloody good thing, he dragged a much worse side to cl glory, 10 games is a similar run to the cup run...

I agree with Macca. Once CL footy is secured then just go for it.

I think we need to win 5 of the 10 games to get 4th. Thats 74 points and should be enough.
I dont think Spurs will win 7 of their last 10, nor will Everton win 9 of their last 11 or Utd 10 of the last 11.

Current form last 6 games:
Liverpool 5w 1d
Spurs 3w 1d 2l
Everton 2w 1d 3l
Utd 2w 2d 2l

We should be aiming much higher with the position we're in but one game at the time. The goal is still 4th imho and just let us slowly attack Chelsea at the top without to much fuss about a league winning challenge, and we'll see where we are when we play City/Chelsea at home.

I don't think we'll know that we have a CL place until the last game of the season.

Tottenham doesn't seem to fade away no matter how bad they play.
Everton will get better. We may lose to Man Utd / Chelsea. And anyway we may need 3rd place.

It's going to be ten crazy games.

As long as its not Spurs I dont think it matters tbh.
I dont think Everton will get 27 points from 33 and I dont think Utd will get 30 points from 33.

With Lukaku back Everton are capable of 27 from 33. That still wouldn't be enough.

Everton are capable of going unbeaten til seasons end with Lukaka back.

Fuck all this talk of Spurs losing. I want them to win 5-0 against Chelsea

5-0 would be good. What's the goal difference between us just now - about 8?

Everton has an easy March, but April is a different matter:

Apr 6 Arsenal (H)
Apr 12 Sunderland (A)
Apr 20 Manchester United (H)
Apr 26 Southampton (A)
May 3 Manchester City (H)

They also have 2 games postponed - away to Palace and home to Newcastle that need to be fit in somewhere. If they win their FA Cup game against Arsenal, the April 12 Sunderland game then needs to be re-arranged. Fixture congestion for the win!

Suffice to say, Chelsea aside, nobody with a serious chance of top four (that rules out the Mancs - ha!) actually has an easy schedule in the remaining months. I actually think ours is the easiest schedule after Chelsea's. All on paper that is.

Everton will never get 27 from 33 points.
That would be an increase from 1,77 points averaged to 2,45 in these last 11 games.
I'd say thats impossible for a team that havnt won away from home in 2014.

How long has Lukaku been out for. They've got pretty football behind him but he's the head of the spear for them. He'll make a massive difference.

3 league games but he's scored 2 goals since the end of November though.
I cant really see it tbh.

I'm somewhere in the middle on this. If he comes back firing on all cylinders straight away I reckon the Wizard is right about the scale of the difference he could make to them. How likely is that really though? Physical fitness and match fitness are not identical. His return will help them a lot, no question, but I think I'll be a tad surprised if they end up with quite that many points.

He'll make a difference. Most of their results are tight, and he's usally the one chipping in with the crucial goal. As we saw at the weekend. I still think they'll finish strongly, but like Spurs, because their results are so marginal, they're a bit off the top four.

True, but Everton fans also reckoned his form had tailed off significantly before his injury anyways.

I'm kinda hoping they're done as far as a top 4 push is concerned. I'm most concerned about Spurs who just seem to be squeezing through in every game very frustratingly.

Of course, if we keep winning it won't make much difference. Hope the boys are up for the Utd game because Moyes and his lot will be out for blood I reckon.

I'm surprised anyone's worried about Everton. As Hansern says, no way they're getting 27 from 33! 8 points behind, plus another for goal difference, it's too much.

Spurs you could just about make a case for, but even they're 6 (7) behind, and they've got a horrible run in the next month, probably starting with a defeat at Chelsea on Saturday.

Top 4 is pretty much a certainty from here.
