Also this kind of refutes the argument that we should have signed Suarez. For all his amazing impact in La Liga he still doesn’t have a single CL goal for Atletico and here he was completely nullified; didn’t look like scoring or creating at any point.
Not sure how that refutes it - Suarez or Divock to back up or take minutes form Bobby this year? Still Divock?
Not quite a fair comparison since Suarez earns more than twice than Divock - they are in different categories. Suarez is a star in La Liga.

What I’m saying is that there is a good chance Suarez would have been ineffective in the EPL on this evidence (and evidence of not scoring outside La Liga). So you can have a cheap day ineffective sub, or a very expensive one.
Simeone really has fizzled in the CL - as he should have last year too.

Don't see it - I think he'd have easily had ~15 goals considering the chances we create and having less attention on him due to Salah/Mane.
This Madrid team, despite the outrageous attacking talent they possess, just doesn't create much.

Suarez has 10 CL goals in the last 5 seasons. In 3 of those seasons he failed to score more than 1 goal. It's not just this year, he's had a poor return at the highest level for a while. But if anybody was in doubt of how he'd do in the PL they should rewatch the Chelsea game, he was miles off the pace. The let's get Luis back idea needs to die, fast.
Genuine question but have you actually watched him play in the last 2 years? His pace has completely gone, he doesn't really press anymore, and he's generally dead after about an hour, and that's in Spain. He's still an excellent finisher but the things that made him great are no longer there. Barca binned him because you cannot have a front 3 where 2 of them just loiter around upfront waiting for the ball, with Messi its a price Wirth paying because the rest of his game is arguably the best in the world, with Suarez its not.
Hes too expensive to sit on the bench for 30 games a season at most clubs but he's not mobile enough to be a starter. If people think Thiago is struggling to match the intensity of the PL then you definitely don't want to see Suarez back.
Yup - watched Barca games last year. Haven't watched many Athleti games this year - but that's because they often bore me! As Klopp said last year, and most of us echo, you have some phenomenal footy players and they just play boring shite.
We've also both watched Bobby and Divock this year, and I feel Suarez could have easily contributed more than both of them where it counts (winning games where you need to take that chance or two, and as you say, "He's still an excellent finisher "). I never wanted Suarez to play week in, week out. Spot starter and 30-40 minutes to replace Bobby ... I think it would have made a difference to our season.
I think there's two differences between Thiago and Suarez - 1) one loves the physicality and 2) one has the experience of this league. Both make a difference.
