Carra has been on Neville about Ole needing to go, but I wonder if he was pushing for Rodgers to leave? Don't think he did.

He probably didn’t, no. Can’t remember at all. Carra is clearly having a great time winding up Neville though, isn’t he? No matter how annoying Neville is, he must know deep down that he is defending a hopeless position, but he will continue to do it because he can’t bring himself to accept that anyone or anything that is associated with United’s glory days is not perfect.

I forgot Giggsy too....

He’s no Ange Postecoglou... but he could do a job.

For about 3 months till he’s sent down.

Look... he might be able to get some hints from Ronaldo on avoiding that... and focus on getting Utd sent down instead...

I mean... it could be worse... my top pick is Ray Wilkins.. and he’s been dead for 3 years.

Still think he could do a better job than Ole....

I like the idea of Ray Wilkins managing from beyond the grave.

Lovely man apparently. I'm not taking the piss btw.

Yeah - I had a Uni mate that became a Journo in Scotland - Rangers fan.

I think he got to know Wilkins when he was a pundit... he also said he was a really nice guy.

Yeah, just happened to be a rentboy manc hun by accident

I think he’s the only player ever to have played for Chelsea, Utd & Rangers.

Plenty have played for 2... so I guess there’s a tipping point that playing for all 3 somehow resets the cosmic balance and negates the cuntiness of all 3 teams.

Nothing better than him being under such intense pressure. Every decision he makes will be scrutinised to the n-th degree, online, on tv and to him in press conferences. Team selections, substitutions, tactics etc. More and more mistakes will creep in and he will completely fold.

Simply beautiful.

Are you talking about Ray Wilkins?

I reckon Ray would be able to take both fan and pundit criticism without flinching.

Barring a miracle, OGS is gone. The 'safe for now' messaging is to buy them some time whilst they search for a replacement and sort out negotiations.
Their senior leadership been so blinded by the mythical 'Man United way', and Fergie's prevailing influence, that they haven't been able to see the wood for the trees. The game against Liverpool will have changed that. It's undeniable that Leicester will beat United to Champions League qualification unless a managerial change occurs. It's impossible to make top four with the current defensive platform, and the players know this; De Gea, Ronaldo, Sancho, Fernandes, Pogba will know playing on a Thursday night will be embarrassing and damage their credibility in the game. They'll be turning on OGS behind the scenes without a doubt, and internal Whatsapps will be on fire.

And we shouldn't be fearful of managerial change. Every appointment since Fergusson retired has failed. Jose said finishing second at the club was his greatest ever achievement. You can say he was deflecting, but it does heavily imply that there's a gross lack of quality and talent running throughout the football operations of the club. This is biggest problem they have; Ferguson was such a genius and covered so many areas of the club that him leaving set them back 20 years across the board.

The best thing United could do is give Conte a five-year deal and full control, let him pick the backroom staff, let him overhaul the football operations, he needs a carte blanche. But they won't. The fact is any new manager will face the same suspicions and resistance LVG and Mourinho experienced, the same lack of support and talent behind the scenes, the club will want to keep keep Carrick and Phelan on the payroll so too much doesn't change; the scouting will still be lazy, obvious, commercially driven, and shit. Let them hire who they want. Not arsed. We'll get them sacked, too.

FSG maybe tight as a ducks arse, but at least they recognise the importance of footballing operation driving the income, whereas at United the football has become a laughable sideshow.

There's a topic on redcafe now saying everyone in any senior role has never worked in their position before, and how come a club of their size has let this happen. I didn't even know they had a new DoF, but he used to run the academy. Luke Chadwick is on the board somehow. Carrick is coaching. They're all winging it.

I wouldn't be against Milner staying and training up though for coaching, but that's just overkill.

We put ourselves in similarly dangerous positions too previously in various positions at the club, it works sometimes and at others it doesn't. Sometimes it's just about timing, good and bad. Look at Kenny, look at Souey and Evans.

I've always held the belief that the majority of good players make bad coaches. Pep, Dalglish, Conte aside most of them are disasters.

Definitely cautious abt Gerrard taking charge

Man Us biggest mistake was signing Ronaldo. His purchased forced them to change their style of play, and ultimately led to imbalance in the squad

Wish city had brought him and see them adapt their system from a false 9 to him.
Would have been good to see how he got on with Pep being moany twat, Pep didn’t always manage those types well like Eto/Zlatan.

Giggs, Neville, Souness, Barnes, Keane, Bruce, Lampard, Hyypia, Ole, Scholes, Sheringham, Maradona, Gattuso, Henry.

All failures.

Its the Anakin Skywalker thing innit, hired to be the chosen one but goes onto fuck up everything.

Is Luke Chadwick the Director of Image Rights?

Something weird is going on there. Maybe Ferguson or his son is getting a cut of all transfers or something like that. I understand appointing past players who have shown to be innovative coaches due to their connection with the club. I also understand past legends who can use their personality, connection, status with the club to get things done. The team they have now are neither - Ole, Carrick, Fletcher, Chadwick. I think they had Nicky Butt manage the youth teams sometime before. It is not like these are top tier Utd legends or something like that.

It is one thing giving Gerrard or Alonso roles within the club and letting them learn on the job. I would hate it but be ok with it due to the nostalgia. It is a whole new ballgame if we give Luis Garcia the managers role and letting him learn on the job.

The Glazers have gone for what you can call the Ted Lasso approach.
