Liverpool are expected to recall flying winger Sheyi Ojo from his loan spell at Wolves.

The 18-year-old’s return to Anfield is likely to be confirmed on Thursday in time for him to be included in the Reds squad for the FA Cup third round tie at Exeter on Friday night.

Injury to Philippe Coutinho – the latest to suffer Liverpool’s hamstring hoodoo during the League Cup semi-final at Stoke on Tuesday – is likely to have been the final factor in the Reds’ decision.

However Ojo has recently fallen out of favour at Molineux and his 88th minute substitute appearance against Charlton in late December was his only football in the Championship last month.

Overall Ojo, who joined the Reds in 2011 from MK Dons, has made 17 appearances for Wolves, including five starts and scored two goals.

He returned to Liverpool before Christmas and played for the U21s in the goalless draw away at Norwich.

Hope this is the right move. Watching Ibe now makes me question whether he'd have been better staying out on loan.

Could we have an Adele track playing in the background continuously? I think it would heighten the cynicism, despondency and depression about all things LFC.

I've never been entirely sure whether Sheyi's a winger or a forward on the paltry few times I've watched him live. He always looked promising though.

It certainly seems more about outr thin squad than any planned return (or one forced by brilliant form). He's not been starting lately for Wolves.

Still, if we can let go of the idea that we must finish top 4 this year, our injury woes might just prove fortunate in the long-term. Klopp is certainly getting an opportunity to take a good look at a bunch of fringe and emerging talent in the squad. It might just be that one or more of those, who otherwise might not have got their chance, will take it and become an important part of our long-term future.

Such scenarios allowed the likes of God, mcmanaman and Owen take their chances

I was going to say ... Most of our young stars in the 90s got their chances because of injuries ... They never looked back. Hopefully, our bright future beings on Friday for them.

There is no chance whatsoever that Fowler, Gerrard, Owen and McManaman would not have been first team regulars, regardless of injuries. That kind of talent doesn't stay hidden, and the idea that we have players like Owen sitting around in the resizes and youth teams waiting for their opportunity is absurd and fanciful.

The talent isn't there.
