Norwich enquire about Shelvey

Sell him with a buyback clause ideally, but a season loan would be okay too, similar to how the Carroll saga is panning out with West Ham

I made a point about Jay Spearing a few weeks ago regarding his value; suggesting that he SHOULD be valued at at least £4m because teams like Norwich, QPR, WBA regularly pay that sorts amount for Championship midfielders and Jay has proved himself to be adept in the EPL.

I don't think Jonjo's ever going to make the grade at LFC but i do think we should get at least £6m for him because he's a regular U21 international, he's proven he can play at EPL level and he's young with potential to improve. I think he'd prove to be good value to Norwich for that amount. Also a 20% sell on clause in the unlikely event he turns out to be great.

Id also quite like him to play against us twice a season because you know hell be fired up and no doubt get sent off.

I wonder of Betfred are doing odds on him getting sent of vs Liverpool next year.

Anything over 5mill and I'd let him go. But unless we get that sort of money, I'd keep him as backup/squad. I don't think he'll ever come 'good' though.

He's boss.

For £8m we should sell. I see talent in him but also flaws i'm not sure he can get rid of e.g. his Scholes like inability to tackle and stay on his feet which makes him a bit of a liability.

he may have the potential, but he ain't going to fulfil it. wouldn't want a buy back clause.

love one of the muppets ;-)

He has potential but isn't going to fulfill it? Do you even think before you let those hands loose on a keyboard?

He has sporadic moments of really good play, but he just isn't up to it for me. If they offered 8m we would have to accept it.

And I think it's safe to assume that Charlton have a "sell on" clause that would involve us giving them 10%-15% of whatever we get for him so £8m should be our price.

I agree with this.

I can see his potential, he's got great energy (when it's not boiling over) and he does seem to have good general ability too. I am just not sure he'd get to play a lot this coming Season, so either we cash in or loan him out to another Prem club.

Sell him and reinvest elsewhere.

Not going to argue with you here but that's about the 20th player in our current squad you've advocated should be sold.

Do you really think we should sell everybody and buy ourselves a new team?

Nah I'd keep him. If he could finish properly he would have been great this season, alas the bald cunt turned out to be a blind cunt too. But that's a minor flaw which doesn't take much to correct. I remember when Lampard was his age he was also crap at finishing.

Everyones got a price, and there's good reason why we've finished lower than 6th for the last three seasons. The players I wouldn't mind sold are:

Skrtel
Lucas
Shelvey
Downing
Coates

er................... yes. he has the potential, but due to his poor attitude he won't fulfil it

what poor attitude? Because he shouted at Slur? Because his tackling is a bit rash? It's a media generated myth.

Tell me why he's got a poor attitude?

Yes, I don't get this attitude argument. Everyone who's worked with him, from his Charlton days up to now, has said how hard he works and how eager he is to learn.

It's an easy thing to use to justify not liking a player

It's hard to prove so people aren't arsed arguing normally and just take it at face value

I don't think he has an attitude problem, I think his bigger problem is learning to control himself and utilise the passion he has in the correct manner similar to how Gerrard had too.

I just don't think he will progress as a lot people think he will, he will be one of those who peaked at a young age and doesn't get any better.

I think he thinks he's a lot better than he actually is. He's a good player. However, I don't think he'll be good enough long term as a starter week in week out though. A fee that will rise to 8 million would be very hard to refuse.

Whenever the attitude thing comes up I recall him asking to play for the reserves and looking quite committed whilst playing for them.

I suspect it's become a thing because he can appear to look a little lethargic in some games.

It's the same reason Sturridge had such a bad attitude ...

His shoulders tend to droop. Nothing he can do about it. Makes him look lazy and uninterested unless he is moving at full speed. Poor lad.

just from what i have heard from others. whenever i have seen him, he looks as though he prances around the field like mr big bollocks, then goes and tries the hollywood pace but fails.
