There's so much talent to be unearthed from the South American leagues - after all, the Portuguese & Spanish sides can't sign them all.

Even Championship sides are exploring the market. Norwich's record signing Gabriel Sara, was Player of the Season in his debut season (another positive example to allay fears of poor transition to English football). He was outstanding today vs. Hull.

Quite a lot of Brazilians end up playing for Shakhtar/Dynamo too don't they, instantly think Fernandinho and Willian. Fred & Bernard too. A lot of others who have stayed there for a long time. Alex Texeira who we were linked with for like forever.

Ah yes, indeed

Inside Shakhtar Donetsk's Brazilian experiment
Shakhtar Donetsk - The Brazilian connection
[article]It was the appointment of Romanian manager Mircea Lucescu in 2004 which was the real catalyst for the revolution. When he arrived, Shakhtar were a mid-table side and Lusescu formulated a plan;

“Create a team capable of competing with Dynamo Kiev.”

He wanted to form a highly technical team which blended homegrown defensive talent with Brazilian flair and President of the club, Rinat Akhmetov gave Lucescu his financial backing for the plan to begin.

In his first year, they signed Brazilian midfielders Jádson, Elano, Matuzalém and Fernandinho. They poured huge money into their scouting network and the samba signings kept flowing with Willian, Luiz Adriano and Ilsinho all singing in 2007.

This culminated in unprecedented success, winning 3 league titles in Lucescu’s first 4 seasons and most notably they won the 2009 UEFA Cup beating Weder Bremen 2-1 in the final AET with both goals being scored by Brazilians, Luiz Adriano and Jádson.

In 12 years Lucescu won 8 League titles and 6 Ukrainian Cups. Before his arrival the club had won just 1 League title in their history.

Fast forward to today and the connection is still alive, on the 2nd December 2020, they beat Real Madrid 2-0 in the UCL with Brazilian Dentinho scoring the first goal. Of their 22 man squad, 12 were Brazilian and 10 played in the match.[/article]

Wow, that would be an amazing coup for Brighton if they could pull it off. Doesn’t sound like Kudus himself is convinced though.

Roger Ibanez to Ah Ahli for £25m seems like a damn good deal tbh....surprised Roma let him go for that cheap.

Now appears they are after Zielinski.

At this point you have to wonder who's weirder, Levy for rejecting that kind of money for a 30 year old or Kane for showing absolutely no ambition to win anything in his career.

The Levy point I'll give you - his football judgments are less reliable than his general business ones IMO. As far as Kane's concerned, though, what would winning a lesser league, with the team which is all but guaranteed to do so anyway, actually mean?

It would mean winning titles and trophies, and an actual chance at winning the CL as well.

Staying at Spurs, winning nothing and end up being the top scorer in England.
Big whoopdy do.

Not all titles or trophies are worth the hassle of uprooting yourself and (we don't know how big a factor this might be) your family. Ooh, Bayern winning the Bundesliga - to coin a phrase, "big whoopdy-doo". A tilt at the CL is a fair point but AFAIK they're not favourites for it or likely to be in the near future.

He's not exactly going to play in Greece or Turkey JJ.

A lesser league ok (every league is that when compared to the Prem is it not - I guess we have that right to say that because we follow a team that competes in it), it's still the Bundesliga and he'd still be going to a far far bigger side than Spurs.

If City were in for him and he went there one could argue he's going to a side all but guaranteed to win the Prem?

He’s 30 years old and has won the Audi cup in his entire career. Winning the Bundesliga, German cup etc is at least winning something.
If Bayern get Kane they’ll be one of the favorites to win the CL.

Not nearly to the same extent as Bayern. This is a kind of re-run of the argument we sometimes have on here between those for whom LFC winning any kind of silverware is the most important thing and those of us, including me, who don't think anything but the Premiership and Bigears is really worth bothering about.

Bigger favourites than Chelsea or Utd that's for sure.

I get going to Bayern, winning the Bundesliga is not on par with going to a Chelsea or Arsenal and winning the league. I get it's not the most challenging opportunity presented to him but right now it would be the pinnacle of his career.

You have to access the options he has on the table, which at the moment is to stay at Spurs or go to Bayern.....factor in where else he could go, Barca or Madrid? to compete in a 2 horse race? Meh. PSG? That's even more of a dead league than the Bundesliga. Saudi? Well we all know no one goes there for anything other than the $$$$.

Wouldn't disagree with the above. What I don't see is that going to Bayern would be enough of a step up to make it the obvious thing for him to do. At his age, with a young family and a good possibility that he can set a new Prem scoring record (which he's always been desperate to do), I'm far from convinced it's worth the hassle.
