Haven’t seen it mentioned on here but plenty of people saying the Saudi football push atm is purely to help with a World Cup bid rather than actually trying to develop their domestic league.

Of course it is. They saw the pushback Qatar got, so they're getting in early to annoy everyone

I’m quite surprised at the very thought of another World Cup in that region any time soon. It surely has to be a long way off.

I hear Utd are after T-Rex.

Please make it so.

See i don't know whats better. Pickford failing at united and they don't get europe. or pickford failing at everton and they actually get relegated

Choices

Pickford failing to save a shot at Old Trafford with his tiny arms would be very funny though.

Ruben Neves is 26 years old and signs for Al Hilal. Talk about going after the money and not a career.

Plus he was playing for wolves and never picked up by a big club. His chances of winning an English domestic or European competition will not change playing in Saudi.

I was thinking the same. Fighting against relegation, for mid table mediocracy, or qualify for European football but with little chance of progressing towards the tail end of the competition vs. the money that's being offered. Also, if they keep this up, he will be the first of many, rather than one of few (e.g. Oscar when he went to China).

Yes, it must be tough having only 10 mill in your account, not 20.

And retiring at 35, not having to work anymore.

Or setting up your children, grandchildren and possibly grand children with a better chance of success ...
Can't fault him ...
If you offered me to triple my salary to take a less serious job etc that would help me provide for my family, and be able to retire sooner, I'd take it probably.

I can understand that too, but some money is dirtier than other money.
So there is a cut of point as to what you will accept.

He’ll probably be treated like royalty over there also. Feels a bit like carragher retiring from England, you can only be overlooked for so long before you lose interest and look after yourself.

If you could set your family up for 4 future generations, you would i think. I know i would. 2 years of earning a fucking bomb, to then still come back at a middling or even good side

edit: The morality point i agree with, but as has been said; all wealth is dirty. If you go that high you're only going to get dirtier

Imagine then, your relatives: I don't want any of that dirty money. Or, I don't want the hand-outs, but to make my own life.
