Monchi hasnt delievered when he has worked outside Sevilla. Will be interesting to see if he can do it now.

I can’t see a world where 88m up to 115m was out of reach for us. Surely he decided against joining. Hope he has a career ending injury now after flirting with us for 2 years 🙁

I can see why the total transfer fees, agent fees and salary of 250 mill euros is something we cant do given our rebuild.
Its our own fault obviously but thats not for every club to fund.

1) I still don't think barella will settle in the prem
2) If arsenal play havertz as a striker that'll be great, as he's shite there. Also on the wing he's shite. And i don't know if they'll spend that money to be second fiddle to odegaard

Onana - free transfer from Ajax

Kepa - €80m from Athletic Bilbao
Mendy - €24m from Rennes

Someone on Momo's favourite podcast said Real offered him over £200K per week AFTER TAX. To match that we would have probably have had to pay him more than Mo, and then be ready to increase it every 2 years or so.

Barella is contracted until 2026. 50 mill was very low which made it sound bs.
I am glad we're not going for Barella. The pace and physicality of the PL will be shock to his system. There's a good chance he will suffer a serious injury be out for 3 months and will moan about the weather and food.

Nah.
Quality always shines through, you only need to be aggressive in your press.

Gundogan isn’t quick or aggressive.
Neither is Kovacic.

Define ‘good chance’?

Question is why did we bother chase him for 2yrs ?
What he actually went for to RM is not un expected in the end? Actually it’s a bit less then what was touted in Jan. I thought we had all these apparently smart data scientists on our recruitment team?

City changed their passwords.

Imo we heard the right noises from Bellinghams camp until shit got real and it was time to make commitments. There were even stories that he was happy to forgo CL football to join Liverpool.

But I’d guess it was a death by a thousand cuts including salary on offer, lack of sporting director / backroom staff exodus, lack of investment, lack of guaranteed success on top of how shit we were playing. At a certain point him and his dad probably just thought yea we love Klopp and the club but the package just can’t compete with other offers.

I think they said "Real are offering me 250k to start, what do you have?"

And that was it.

Coming from dortmund he probably just wants to spend the next few years winning things without having people droning on about oil money and sports washing tainting his achievements.

70%... I am okay on missing out on Italians
City haven't opened their cheque book. So they'll be looking to replace Bernardo Silva who looks PSG bound.
Even though I said Klopp would be backed now I am now beginning to doubt that.

The Madrid offer was 200K after tax. That would need a base salary of 400K in England ... except of course if he did choose Cit, then it would be 100K basic wage and 400K per year for his domestic oil bills.

Like I said City offered more and they would have made it work somehow 🙂. Think Spanish top rate tax is 47%, well I may need to check with Xabi On that.
