NFL Regular Season Thread

Im so delighted with last night. Were on our 4th choice rb against a solid if underperforming team at theirs and got a huge win.
We really need to keep squeaking these out now, coz our run in is horrific.

Finally Kitna doesn't start, though instead he plays Dan fucking Orlovsky?!?! Drew Stanton is the last bit of hope I have left, and Marinelli prefers Dan O. What a fucking tit.

The way the officials are simply giving this game to the Cowboys is making me puke...

Conservatively, they've cost the Cardinals 10 points already, maybe 14. It should be 17 / 21 - 0 at this point.

Well, in the end, justice is served after all.

But my God, the officials tried all they could to hand it to the Cowboys, didn't they?

(C'mon Avy - Gimme your best shot! 😉 )

Watched a bit of college football yesterday on espn in a hungover stupor.

That Colt McCroy (Sp?) is gonna be a star.

Now that I've lost that depression tone ... Let's see ... Tell me if I'm getting it wrong Whaddapie as I haven't watched one full game the whole year, just bits and parts of most of them

1) We really needed a #2 WR and Crayton, who may be one one day, is not it. It's making life very hard on TO.
2) What is up with TO? Something is definitely not right here - I think it may not be football related either ...
3) Adam Jones, who was the key to soldifying a weak spot, is not nearly ready to do so. It's no shame either, most players after a year off, would take time to get re-acquainted to the league. He's getting beat far too often - Hopefully he gets 'Pacman's' game back, otherwise, the weak spot is well, still a weak spot.
4) Romo ... I love the way he plays. He's the image of the kid from nowhere just living the dream and having fun. But he's gotta step up and a) become the undisputed leader of this team and b) start eliminating some of the stupid mistakes he makes every game. He's got all the tools - now it's time to do something with 'em.
5) Wade Phillips. I don't think we'll win the big dance with him - He's just not really a winner.

Last year, the last 5 games (inc playoffs) were like this. Played up n' down, deserved to win none, won 1. This year, since the Philly game, we're 1-2 and we should be 0-3. Skins deserved their win. Cincy deserved to win. Cards deserved their win. No Bum, sorry Wade, things are not all good and barely beating the Bungles is not a 'good game' ... Fix things or risk a mediocre 10-6 season with another early playoff exit.

You'll probably get Roy Williams as your number 2 WR in the summer.
That would be a nice homecoming for him ... or am I confusing the Texas guy with the USC guy?
Yeah he's from Texas. Keeps moaning about going back there too and he's a free agent after the season.
well hopefully he's not a prick like your post makes it out to be - let's still hope he can still turn out to be a good player like the one who was pheomenal in college - wasn't major applewhite and chris simms his QBs back then?

Some great finishes to the games last night, as well as some shocking refereeing decisions (noticeably against Detroit and Arizona).

Well, that's what happens when you insert a player who hasn't taken a snap since HIGH SCHOOL.

This muppet never played a down in college. I dunno why anybody is surprised.

Still, next season will be good - A high draft pick and a raring-to-go Tom Brady... Yummy!

Uh-Oh...

Oh well, Avy - There's always next year.

It would be foolish to write them off this year - if the Giants won the super bowl last year when they streaked it at the end, any team can ... So hope isn't gone, just blind optimism.

Giants bubble blown ... finally.

Trouble with Pacman ... the Adam experiment is over now! 🙁

Commissioner Roger Goodell notified Adam Jones of the Dallas Cowboys today that he is suspended indefinitely without pay as a result of his most recent violation of the NFL Personal Conduct Policy.

Jones will miss at least the next four games. Commissioner Goodell will determine the final length of the suspension following the Cowboys' Week 11 game against Washington on November 16. The decision on whether Jones can return to play will be based on Jones' strict compliance with his NFL and Dallas Cowboys treatment plans as well as on evaluations of Jones' progress that will be provided to Commissioner Goodell by clinical experts retained by the NFL. Jones was involved in an alcohol-related physical altercation at a Dallas hotel on October 8 that resulted in hotel employees calling the police. Commissioner Goodell in today's letter to Jones called it a continuation of "a disturbing pattern of behavior and clearly inconsistent with the conditions I set for your continued participation in the NFL."

Jones was suspended for the entire 2007 season for multiple violations of the NFL Personal Conduct Policy. In reinstating Jones on August 28 of this year, Commissioner Goodell said that the player's participation in the NFL depends on demonstrating that he can conduct himself in a socially responsible manner, avoiding any other conduct that brings disrespect to himself, his team, or the NFL."

SG67, you were right:

The Dallas Cowboys are discussing with the Detroit Lions a trade for wide receiver Roy Williams, a team source told ESPN.com Tuesday.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes Williams is a game-breaker who provides an immediate boost to a faltering offense without quarterback Tony Romo and views him as a potential long-term solution as the eventual replacement for aging Terrell Owens, according to another high-ranking Cowboys source.

The source said the Cowboys are willing to make the deal, but the Lions seem hesitant because they are operating without a general manager. Former GM Matt Millen had discussed the possibility of trading Williams with the Cowboys frequently before he was fired.

As the article says, the problem is that since Millen's gone, no one is really in a position to get rid of one of their top players until the permanent GM comes in. I'd imagine it won't happen until the summer

That said, it is the Lions. Expect the Cowboys to get Roy Williams for a 7th round pick in 2045.

And more bad problems at the Valley ... no Felix ... no Tony ... no McBriar ... oysh:

The Cowboys now must find a way to win without starting quarterback Tony Romo, who is out for at least a month with a broken pinkie on his right throwing hand.

If that's not enough, the Cowboys also learned that rookie running back Felix Jones has a strained hamstring and will likely miss at least two weeks. And then punter Mat McBriar has a fractured right foot and is out 6-8 weeks, which could possibly mean a spot on injured reserve.

And just for good measure, let's throw in wide receiver Sam Hurd re-injuring his high ankle sprain and will need surgery, possibly season-ending. Outside linebacker Anthony Spencer should miss at least a week with a hamstring strain.

Let's not forget that cornerback Terence Newman is out for at least three more weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a sports hernia last week. Safeties Roy Williams (broken arm) and Pat Watkins (neck) could return this week but may not be 100 percent.

How about Roy Williams (DET) for Roy Williams (DAL) and a 3rd round pick?

you'd be getting ripped off.
