NFL Off Season (Draft, FAs, coaching carousel)

And they've just cut Roy Williams, too.

Wow.

So, if this is Jerry finally starting to listen to people who know football, and he stays out of the coaching side of things, you never know...

Lot's of talent on that team, and it certainly looks like all distractions are being removed from the dressing room.

Interesting off-season on the way in Big D.

20+ mill in dead money. Any big FAs next offseason?

I think we'll be an interesting team this year, dark horse only unfortunately.

Roy the receiver?

Roy the "I can't cover" safety

Yep.

Just 2 good corners and two good safeties, and your defensive secondary will be good.

How's life?

are you really insinuating that Terrence Newman isn't a 'good corner'?

No, mate - I'm winding you up.

But seriously, after him, you're very suspect back there...
[/quote]

Unproven I agree, but the upside with Jenkins and Scandrick is there ... They played well last year and while they do worry me (as they have little experience), I feel that they'll do better than Henry or Pacman. So hopefully, we'll be ok.

Hamelin is ok and let's hope we draft/sign a good SS (or FS and push Hamelin to strong)

Jenkins will be fine, he is a little undersized.

As long as we get safeties that can actually cover someone we will be fine.

Life is grand by the way, moving out soon.

Soon after the Cowboys released Terrell Owens, his agent Drew Rosenhaus proclaimed that T.O. had several teams interested in him and he would be signed by the end of next week. Bluster, perhaps, particularly since most every NFL team couldn't denounce Owens fast enough. But today, FOXSports.com's Jay Glazer and Alex Marvez report that T.O. is meeting with the Bills and could sign a one-year deal before the weekend's out.
Owens, who is expected to leave tonight, has called friends with ties to the team to ask questions about the franchise and Buffalo community, a source said.
Quick primer, Terrell: the weather is dreadful, but on the upside, J.P. Losman won't be around to overthrow you by 25 yards and set you off. That's Trent Edwards' cross to bear, apparently.

Owens' anger-management issues and locker-room-dividing super powers aside, the Bills do need some help at wideout. Lee Evans might be the most underrated receiver in the league, but a one-dimensional passing offense is easily contained, particularly when the quarterback hits a rough patch.

Josh Reed was second on the team in receptions in '08, but there's a huge difference between hauling in 56 passes for 597 yards and one score, and what Owens was able to accomplish in Dallas a season ago: 69 grabs for over 1,000 yards and 10 TDs.

Obviously, their circumstances are completely different -- the Cowboys featured a star-studded high-powered offense and the Bills had Evans, Marshawn Lynch and a second-year quarterback trying to find his way.

Still, on paper, T.O. makes the Bills a better team, but will he be enough to get them back to the playoffs? You know, before he does his thing? Or maybe a small town is exactly what Owens needs at this point in his career. It'll be just like "Doc Hollywood."

Bills sign Owens to one-year, $6.5 million deal
NFL.com Wire Reports

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. -- Terrell Owens needed only two days to find another place to play.

The Buffalo Bills decided to take a chance on the talented but high-maintenance receiver, signing Owens to a $6.5 million, one-year deal Saturday.

Owens' initial impressions
Terrell Owens had some interesting things to say when he sat down for a one-on-one interview with buffalobills.com. Find out his thoughts on joining Buffalo. Watch The news was first reported by NFL.com's Vic Carucci.

The 35-year-old Owens caught 69 passes for 1,052 yards and 10 touchdowns last season with Dallas. But the Cowboys were looking to improve the atmosphere in the locker room and decided they would be better off without him.

"I'm leaving America's team (for) North America's team," Owens said at a news conference.

The Bills will be Owens' fourth stop. He started with San Francisco, bounced to Philadelphia -- where he helped the Eagles get to a Super Bowl -- and then to Dallas.

"I must move on, and it's another beginning for me," Owens said. "If I can be that extra added piece to get them to the playoffs, then that's what I'm here for. I looked at the defensive side of ball and offensive side of the ball, and these guys have all the pieces."

The Bills were in need of a receiver to take the pressure from Lee Evans. They got one of the biggest names out there.

"We all know of his tremendous ability and look forward to what he will bring to our offense," Bills owner Ralph Wilson said in a statement. "This is a very exciting day for the Buffalo Bills."

Owens, a six-time Pro Bowler, is among the NFL's career leaders in catches, yards and touchdowns. Over the last three years, his 38 touchdowns are one more than Randy Moss and he's among the league's best in catches, yards, yard per catch and yards per game.

He's coming off the ninth 1,000-yard receiving season in the last 11 years.

"We got one of the premier playmakers in a playmakers league," Bills chief operating officer Russ Brandon said.

For the Bills, the signing is their biggest splash since acquiring quarterback Drew Bledsoe in a trade in 2002. Team officials flew to Miami Saturday morning, flew back to Buffalo with Owens and agent Drew Rosenhaus, and signed the deal in the late afternoon at Bills headquarters.

"'Wow!' was my first reaction," Evans said. "I know we were looking at some different receivers out there. When he was cut by the Cowboys, I didn't know if we were going to make the move for him or not. We did and it worked out. I'm very excited for everybody."

The question now is how T.O. will deal with Trent Edwards, who is only entering his second full year as starter. Jeff Garcia, Donovan McNabb and Tony Romo have all had dicey relationships with Owens. Edwards isn't nearly as accomplished as any of those players and the Bills' offense has been abysmal in recent years.

The Bills were 25th in the NFL in yards gained and failed to have a 300-yard passer. Buffalo has ranked 25th or lower in each of the past six seasons in total offense.

"I'm looking forward to getting together with Trent, Lee and the guys and putting some points on the board," Owens said. "That's what I've done everywhere I've been, and it's going to continue."

Coach Dick Jauron has often complained about the Bills' lack of scoring punch, but this represents a serious change in philosophy for a team that in the past has tried to avoid taking on disruptive locker room personalities.

Owens, though, isn't worried about his perceived selfishness in Dallas.

"That's all hearsay," Owens said. "If you look at all the comments coming from my teammates with the Cowboys the last three years, it's all been positive. Prior to that, I really don't want to get into it."

Owens becomes the Bills fourth free agent addition this offseason. Buffalo has also signed cornerback Drayton Florence, backup quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and former Panthers offensive lineman Geoff Hangartner.

If that douchebag is miserable on a team like Dallas to the point when he complains after a win that he wasn't thrown at enough, despite the fact that he was both the game and the season's #1 target for his QB, I cannot wait to see how long it takes him to implode in the wasteland that is Orchard Park.

Oh, and it's bloody cold up there too...

I don't get the remark about going from America's Team, to North America's team.

The fact that they signed TO so quickly shows how desperate they are, and the sad thing is with him the team is only going to get worse.

That's easy, it's where the Wings are.

After a contentious conference call between quarterback Jay Cutler and the Denver Broncos' brass on Monday, the situation has gone "from bad to worse", according to a source close to the situation.

The call was supposed to be a meeting of the minds between Cutler and the Broncos' brass, in particular new head coach Josh McDaniels. The two got sideways Feb. 28 when word broke that McDaniels, the former New England offensive coordinator who replaced Mike Shanahan after 14 seasons, engaged in discussions about acquiring Matt Cassel from the Patriots in a three-way trade. Cutler had maintained the Broncos initiated the talks. McDaniels publicly said he was approached about a deal.

The conference call was anything but genial and the two sides are now further apart than prior to it, the source said. The source added that the Broncos' tone of the conference call was as if Cutler created the situation by asking for the trade and not the other way around.

A Broncos source with knowledge of the discussions said that two sides did not grow further apart in Monday's conference call and that issues were discussed openly and it was re-emphasized to Cutler he will not be traded

That boy really loves him some him...

Compared himself as better than Favre and stronger than Elway last season. What a muppet.

I would normally feel sorry for anyone moving to Buffalo (it's a tedious city) but having said that Dallas is one of the few cities that I would place below Buffalo as places to live so it's actually a step up.

I found it to be overly; religious, racist and hot. Visually I suppose there are worse cities in the USA and obviously the hot, humid conditions might appeal to others more than me but of all the American cities I have visited the locals were by far the most annoying.

Sounds like somebody hit a nerve.

Depending on the depth of his knowledge of a) Dallas and b) the rest of the US.

I'll respect anybody's opinion if it's a halfway educated one...

There was a bloke on here last year (not Pesam) who said all Texans were arseholes because he'd met one loudmouth in a 24 hour stop-over out by the airport - That's the kind of cack I won't put up with without responding to.

I've never been made more welcome or felt more accepted than I have down here - The vast, vast majority of you people are great.

Now, if Pesam has had the misfortune of meeting your step-grandfather, then I could understand his feelings..!

Sorry Avy, but the afore mentioned step-grandfather is also my own step-grandfather-in-law, so he's fair game.

That, and Karl hates the prick too!

I think I'll give him a pass, LTW, just this once.

And just for the record, I don't recall anything mentioned about Elgin.

Plus you really need to make sure the step is bold, underlined and in italics, that part really needs to be emphasized.
