NFL 2014-15 (Offseason / Draft / Regular Season)

Alabama were poor. Got nothing going and struggled badly against the run, which is usually their bread and butter.

Thankfully that should end the SEC is the greatest and there should be atleast three teams from SEC in the national championship playoff debate.

In September/October people were pushing the "SEC West is the greatest division in the history of college football" line.

After yesterday the SEC as a whole is 5-5 in bowls this year and all five losses came from the SEC West.

Disappointing to see Mississippi State and Ole Miss end the season playing so poorly, it'll be interesting to see if they can be successful next year or not.

Midway through the season though, Ole Miss, Miss St, and Bama were definitely the of the top four in the country, and if they kept that form all three should've made the playoff.

As far as the toughest division in CFB goes though, I do think it's still the SEC West top to bottom.

The SEC West is clearly the hardest division in football. The whole division went to bowls for God's sake. A poor showing doesn't alter a decade of SEC domination of 1A football. I don't think anyone claimed this year's SEC West was the greatest ever. Nobody with sense anyway. Indeed, it was probably the weakest slate of West squads I can remember. Still provides the toughest divisional schedule though.

Military-Industrial Bowl last night was insane. Houston made Baylor's comeback against TCU look routine. Trailing Pitt by 25 with ten minutes to go, and still 21 points down with under four minutes to go. They recovered two onside kicks and scored a TD with a minute to go that made it 34-33 to Pitt with the extra point still to come. But apparently Dave Gibbs has balls the size of two heads of mere mortals duct-taped together, so he calls for a two point conversion and puts the whole bowl on the line. Wins, obviously.

That number in and of itself is meaningless. I mean, no other conference has won more bowl games than the SEC, and Florida could give them a sixth win. And the only SEC loss to a team not in the top 20 was LSU to the Irish. The fact that the less favoured teams in the SEC won their bowls only serves to demonstrate the strength of the conference. At the very top, there isn't that much between any of the conferences. Oregon, OSU, TCU etc can play with anyone. Four of the five defeats were by a combined 28 points. But the lower down SEC teams were beating power conference teams. They'll be upset with the overall record, but let's not pretend one swallow makes a summer.

That video is great.
How the fuck are Carolina not leading at the half here?
The field position they had in that half was into blow out territory.
They'll still win this though as Arizona look drunk on offence yet again although Lindley threw a td pass!
Albeit a one yard one.

That was a decent drive from Dalton.
7-7 this is going to be close.
These Colts don't look up to much without Luck carrying them.

Looks like my fears of the Lions being a terrible match up were sadly right ... Terrible penalty by a player we picekd up a few days ago, terrible missed tackle and 14-0 with Romo and the offense looking completely unsure of themselves ... Saw this coming ...

It was a terrible penalty to give away especially after that flukey kick.
Stafford looking disciplined so far and using Megatron as a decoy has worked wonderfully.

Lions defensively are playing the way I was scared they would ... If we don't get a stop here, game is over.

That was a huge chance for a pick and it would have been a huge momentum shift going into the second half.
The Dallas offence has been awful bar one play apart.

We get our only break (there were some really odd ref decisions in th 1st half - our punter was roughed too, no call ... dewayne harris got smacked afte fair catch, no flag etc) so far ... and the best kicker in the NFL misses a kick ... It's just not our day (as usual). Would have been better not to even make the playoffs the way we're 'competing' today.
