I think it's time that Froggie and I come clean - we aren't signing Neymar. We had a chance eons ago and blew it.

The Spanish press is saying this is a tug of war between Barca and Real, with many rags saying he'll be Barcelona's main attacking signing @ 60 million euros (I guess that means goodbye to Sanchez, Villa and a few other big earners)

What do people think of Neymar? From the little I've seen of him, he's extremely skillful and able to score unreal goals but seems to disappear from games and is weak physically.

I think La Liga is probably the best place for him to start his European adventure ...

I think he will go to Real, they will be rebuilding post Mourinho this summer and they will want a 'flair' signing. To be honest Im not sold on Neymar, hes clearly very skillful hes got a good burst of pace over 10 - 20 yards and a great strike off either foot but I havent seen anything to justify the hype that surrounds him, other than his haircut. For 60m Euros I think most clubs would have no interest in him, thats the sort of fee you expect for a proven world class performer at the top of his game. I dont think Neymar is in that bracket yet

La Liga is definitely the best place for him as I think he would need about 2 years to adapt to the premiership

Have you guys seen enough of him to really decide whether he's overrated or not?

I can't say that I've ever taken in a Santos game and watching a few Brazil games isn't really enough.

I don't know if he's overrated or not - I've seen a few Santos games and Brazil games, and he seems to be a very gifted player. It's tough to know which way he'll go, but Robinho is a decent comparison player wise (not sure if he'll end up with a career like Robinho's or not though)

Robinho's problem wasn't talent though, it was attitude.

Towards the end of his Madrid career he was great. He wanted to leave Madrid to get more money and it backfired when he didn't get his Chelsea move. Everything went downhill after that.

That's why I'm saying it's a fairly accurate comparison player wise! 🙂 I don't know much about Neymar's attitude - is he like Coutinho/Lucas or like Ronaldinho? That will be key ... as the talent is undoubtedly there.

It depends whose rating your taking, if your listening to the people who say hes as good as Messi (thats Brazilians only) or those that reckon hes worth 60 million then I think its fair to say yes he is overrated.

Like all of us I'm not really sure if he's overrated or not, but I love the idea of him. Probably the single most flamboyant player I've seen. Hoping he goes to Barca, as could be the sense of theatre they need to complement their sometimes too Puritan pass and move approach.

More so than Ronaldinho? Ronaldo (the real one)?

do Barca not have massive debts or am I imagining that?

I'm sure you're right here too

They did a few years ago, that was what prompted them to finally start wearing a sponsor on their jerseys, and I think they have a mega lucrative TV deal as the Spanish clubs sell their games individually rather than collectively. So I think they have been pulled back from the brink but I may be wrongf

wonderful talent, hopefully he will become a great player, the game needs players like him, testing every limit with incredible pieces of skill. love it, absolutely can't wait to see him on a week to week basis in europe.
