I have a hunch that Klopp might just surprise us with Lovren. He'll certainly improve him. The player's more of a psychological challenge than a simple coaching one, I think, and Klopp seems exceptional at working out such puzzles.

I think there will be a fascinating set of choices to make among the attacking midfielders, because Klopp will surely want to work with Kent, Ojo, Wilson and Canos, as well as Ibe, so there's a real Darwinian struggle ahead for that unusually large group of contenders. Lallana, in that context, needs to show he's got the fitness and appetite to keep ahead of the younger players, or else I can see him being in danger.

I don't really see anyone as being immediately out of favour. I think Klopp will genuinely give them a chance. Mignolet, obviously, must be worried. Moreno could either thrive or collapse under the new regime, I really don't know. Benteke is going to have to have the season of his life so far to dispel the doubts.

Lovren needs boundaries otherwise he's just going to go mental. He's got no system to work in, so has to make decisions off his own back, which doesn't play to his strengths, bless him. Give him a system where the decisions are mostly made for him - when to step up, when to drop off etc - and he'll be better. But then so should all our defenders, in fairness.

If Sturridge stays fit, he may not get the opportunity.

Big big question marks over ROI with Benteke but then we all knew that from the get go.

He's already playing for Belgium mate. Ireland will have to stick with Shane Long.

Largely agree, but Klopp said in the press conference that the squad includes a top class goalkeeper. All players will be looked at and tested, for sure, but Klopp's statement suggests he doesn't see a replacement for Mignolet as top priority.

Klopp didn't exactly say any of the squad needed replacing, he was complementary about all areas, I think to make the point that we should be doing better with the current squad and that it is largely down to a lack of belief. Also to give each player the same sort of opportunity to impress, rather than give Ming, as an example, a feeling that he would have to do more to impress than, say, Lallana would.

I'm sure he'll already have his own ideas about what the squad needs having watched as many games as he will have done by now, but he wouldn't have let slip about that in his first press conference.

Rafa added two "key" players to our squad, lost Owen and won the CL.
If that proves anything it is that a world class manager doesn't necessarily need to revamp an entire squad in order to get them to play better.
We fucking beat Juventus with Carson, LeTallec (Sorry LTW), Nunes, Traoré and Biscan on the pitch.

I have to say that it surprises me that Rodgers lack of tactical nous isn't mentioned more here. Or maybe I've missed it, but it was borderline amateurish at times and that bothered me more than anything else.

Because people have let go, wished him the best and all he provided whilst he was here.

Or you can continue to be petulant... your choice.

I can't speak for others, but I think Rodgers is and will continue to be talked about for months still.
He's gonna be used as a point of reference during the coming months as we see how Klopp utilizes his squad.
So, yeah some might have wished him well, but the fifth most popular/current thread has Brendan's name in the topic. It's far to early to say that people have moved on.

You'll move on if you want to Modo. If it's quite simple, look forward or keep on looking at the past. Or to paraphrase Klopp, why carry 20 stones in your backpack?

Yeah but managers don't make a difference... ;-)
