Nah, I don't see it

If we can include managers I'm going for Mourinho. A lot of people expecting Chelea to walk the league this year. I think people will see a different Mourinho this time round. One that can't outspend his opponents.

Soldado also a good shout.

I'm not sure Aspas is that controversial.

He's 27, which for a player in his position should be his peak year.

His body shape worried me, but then I've seen some slight players be strong on the ball (sterling is stronger than he looks for example), however he does get thrown off the ball easily & out muscled before he even gets into space.

I want to be positive but logic tells me he's a squad player at the very best, & maybe not even that good.

Aspas for me too, he's not going to work out here.

Bale is my other one, really think he will flop at Real.

Good idea for a thread Ryan.

A few weeks ago I would've said Soldado, however after having seen him play for Spurs a few times I am not so sure anymore. He actually looks a proper striker. Not so much in the Drogba or Dzeko mould of course but perhaps more so in the Fowler/Suraez mould. Good skill, good finishing, good movement. We'll see.

Fernandinho was an obvious first choice for me seeing how incredible much they have paid for him. Probably a very decent player but that prize tag as well as the general pressure on City to perform after a poor last Season could make it a really tough one for him. It's mostly a gut feeling.

Schürrle has so far looked very ordinary but it is still early days of course. He could be one of the first one to make way should their current form continue.

I am not completely sold on Fellaini either - one thing is for certain, he's no Octopus.

And finally I have to say Stevie M, started out promising but I think it's only been downhill from there. All those famous handshakes during the Summer has finally gone to his head me thinks.

I've no idea where to start with this; I agree with Froggy that Ozil was considerably overpriced but I do think he'll do well at Arse (IMO he's worth about £25m), yer man Schurrle looks very ordinary, the Eto'o signing seems totally bizarre and doomed to failure and Fellaini was a panic buy that won't improve United much.

I haven't seen much of Jovetic and Negredo but I think they're poor buys because City will struggle if they keep rotating Aguero, Dzeko and the 2 new boys. It's World Cup year and the top players will want to play regularly even more so than usually.

My contrarian nature ensures that I'm predicting Aspas will come good and the best signing of the summer will be one of the cheaper players e.g. Mignolet, Capoue, Erickson etc.

Aspas will flourish (or at least have better conditions to do so) when we are actually starting to dominate games for a full 90 minutes. To me he looks nothing like a counter attack player which perhaps seems odd seeing as he's arrived from a cannon fodder La Liga club.

He looks decent in thought and good at finding space between the lines and he has proved he knows where the goal is too. He's no world beater but can prove valuable especially if we enjoy more possession going forward.

I was going to post this, you've saved me a job. In pre-season and even at times against Utd he lost the defender and moved into a threatening, goal-scoring space. If Sturridge had his head screwed on he could have played Aspas in twice against the scum, completely unmarked. He'll come into his own in games at Anfield against tight defences.

Moureen back to Chelsea. Said to mate when it happened its all going to end in tears.

His not appearing to give a shit last game has significantly tested my attempts to not declare him completely useless when that's what he has been so far.

I'm with the Sheikh here.

I also got slated for it but anyone can see that he's simply not good enough.

Deadwood.

I've been onto my Spurs mate from day one about Soldado. 26m for a 28 year old 2nd tier striker? So much for Levy being a shrewd operator eh?

Thankfully, apart from taking his 2 pens well, his performances have been as expected. He'll struggle to justify that price-tag and will be worth half that by next summer.

Elsewhere, Willian won't get a look-in at Chelsea and we all know Aspas won't cut it. Sakho will excel in time.

How about Lamela? Big reputation but might struggle to adapt to the physicality of the premiership?

....and Lukaku.

All the media wankfest about Everton's late loan move for him supposes that he'll build on his excellent loan spell at WBA last year. However, Martinez has Everton playing in a very different style/system to WBA.

Moreover, Lukaku might just hit that second season wall now he's much more in the consciousness of opposing managers as a threat. He might find himself closed down that bit quicker.

He'll struggle to hit double figures.

A Chelsea trio for me.

1... Willian... Jose plays shit boring football and flogged Robben coz he was in danger of being entertaining. He'll go through the Maureen deskilling machine quicker than most.

2... Maureen. Never go back and all that. His football is fucking awful, he's like Tony Pulis with more money and a bit of charisma. And it will be everybody elses fault.

3... Eto'o... He retired three years ago and he's only in London for the nightlife.

Apart from his finishing which seemed rusty I thought he looked very dangerous in that league game. I hope he'll be shite but I doubt it.

Wellbeck. He looks very rangy on the ball and never in full control. He'll be a decent player, but he'll be a squad player at best his entire career if he stays at Man United.

Balotelli. He's a more than good player no doubt, but a lot of people harped on as if he was awesome. He's not (apart from his general antics, which are amazing).

On the flip side I never really rated Sturridge and I'm glad to say he's been making an absolute fool of me so far. Long may it continue.

I watched the Roma Chelsea pre season game in the US in DC and I did not realize Lamela was playing until he came out for the second half. I dont think he will settle well in the PL.

I thought and still do think that Podolski is a distinctly average player and not what Arsenal need.. He removes the dynamism that they try to build into their team.

I think Soldado is quite an obvious one as he has come with a hefty price considing his age and experience.

There are a lot of people on here who did this for GlenJo..

This kind of judgment is one I've tended to make only sparingly, since the time I thought a certain Kenneth Mathieson Dalglish would turn out to be a waste of money. 😗 Although in fairness I had Pennant's and Voronin's cards marked from day one.

Currently: Schurrle at Chelsea. Good player but I don't think they really know what they want to do with him.

Neymar has looked pretty good so far. Time will tell whether he's worth what they paid but encouraging early signs.

Agreed....
