I thought getting deals done early might be flawed this summer due to the world cup, as clubs will be looking to inflate players prices as much as they can

It's a gamble either way. Player goes to the WC and has a stinker/doesn't play much/gets injured, and the value probably drops. It's far from set in stone that values will be higher after the WC
Regardless ... what we are offerring is right for anyone who has a little bit of quality in that league. Anything more is OTT.
Normally if its a player that's highly sought after.. If they are in the squad, it usually after the world cup before any deal can be done..
If it was any joe bloggs, it would be fine..
If Fabinho had been in the Brazil Squad and key to the squad absolutely we would have been made to wait.

Nearly all signings that come direct from France to here are shit.
Big risk for us. Also am a little pissed that the player is not pushing a little harder.
There's risk attached to every signing, and I'm not sure there's really any obvious correlation with quality and what league they've come from.
It used to be a safe bet to assume anyone from Serie A would be rubbish, then Salah wrecked that.
It's probably correct to say that players we've bought from another Premier league club are less obviously going to be shit, but that's maybe because there's more examples of those, so there's more obvious successes - you could spend the rest of the thread identifying all the shit ones too.

Yeah, but given how great Mane, Virgil and Salah are, I'm now sure that our next few "big" signings will be rubbish. Or at least one of them.
