Last week I took my son for his first ever visit of Anfield. For those of you living in the UK it's not such a big task but for us Isrealis it's a longer journey 😉
I was almost 23 when I made my first trip to Liverpool, well it's different these days - he's nearing his Bar Mitzvah - a special celebration for aJewish boy' 13th birthday.
We flew to London last monday, and headed north Wednesday morning. It's been 5 years since my last visit and Liverpool city center really looks nice. We made a quick tour going through the Albert dock and the waterfront, then through the Beatles zone in Mathew st. and nearby streets before getting to thr LFC store at Livrpool One. The lad was so happy and excited there strolling among LFC replicas, clothing and all kind of souvenirs. We ended up buying him a jacket, a scarf and a hat and took a taxi to Anfield for the Norwich game. We stopped at the King Harry and collected our tickets kindly sorted by big Sunny - thank you so much mate!
The tickets were for the Kop which made my son happy. We were seated not far from the main stand where the atmosphere was good and we had the privilege of watching the unique talent which is Luis Suarez at his prime! What a great debut visit it was for my son! He had a that big smile all over his face! BTW we spent the night at the Premier Inn next to Liverpool One - recommended.
The following day we headed back to Anfield for the stadium tour. It was really interesting going behind the scenes there led by a knowledgeable guide, visiting the press room, dressing rooms, touching the famous this is Anfield sign and on to the dugouts and the stands. We then headed to the museum where all those great memories of the past glory came back. Then there was a visit to the store at the stadium for some more shopping, before meeting local friends for lunch at the Bootroom cafe and back to London.
Then on Saturday we travelled north again for the West Ham game. We arrived at the King Harry where we met Ossi and some of his friends. He was the one who kindly sorted us with tickets this time - thank you mate!
They were for the Kop again! This time it was center top of the stand and the atmosphere there was just great. We stood up for the entire game singing for 90 minutes to the joy of my lad!
This visit was a great experience and we picked up the right games too! 5:1 and 4:1 we could have hardly expected more!
Looking forward to our next visit!
