So he's in Switzerland with his dad and was offered the following:

1) a few days in Barcelona and next week's Classico
2) a trip to Anfield

Now he's a Liverpool fan and like me, he's never been to Anfield, and he STILL picked 1!

Is there any excommunication service we can do for a 'Liverpool' fan who does this!?!?

If he has been to Anfield before on a few occasions and never been to a Classico then the choice would have been understandable to an extent.

However as he has presumably never been to either, then any Liverpool fan turning down an opportunity to go to Anfield for the first time irrespective of the alternative, really aren't much of a fan.

Well it's obviously easy to say you are a Liverpool fan, until you need to demonstrate it.
He obviously never was in the first place, so in his case excommunication is not relevant.

regards

Like the count said - had he been to Anfield before on a few occasions, then fine. But giving up a first time visit to Anfield is rather hard to understand.

He's obviously NOT a Liverpool fan then.
Would you have chosen 1 over 2? Would I? Would any fan on this forum? I believe none.

When I grew up following LFC my dreams at night were often about my first visit to Anfield. It was an amazing moment for me when I first stood on the Kop (and it was a meaningless friendly against a Denmark 11...).

well he could be thinking that he's actually going to see a game rather than just the stadium , and well lets face it , where would you rather visit for a few days at this time of year? . Of course all that is only valid if he has plans to visit anfield in future to catch a game .

I guess Barca - Real is one of the few times you'll see the nou camp in it's full 'glory' ....it was a bit 'meh' when i saw it , old and shabby with a useless crowd there to be entertained (And i saw a 5-2 against A.Madrid !!) .

I'd choose Anfield every single time if I've never been there. He is probably a SkySport Liverpool fan.

So Wizzy, what are you gonna do about him?

I'd take one, try to sell it off (it should fetch quite a tidy sum, no?) and then go to Anfield.

Roland - Nothing serious, just mock him and show him pics when I go next year. I know I know, I say this every year but I really want to go this year. Time has come for me to grace the Holy Land (no not Israel, Anfield).

Furyoo - it's covered by his old man one way or another! 🙂

Just out of interest , what is a SkySports Liverpool fan ? people always bang on about how sky (and the premier league) has ruined football and attracted lots of 'plastic' fans . I've never really got that , why would the fact that football is all over the tv (at a very expensive price) attract people who aren't really that into it ...you either like it or not . Of course you met people on your travels who's main sport is something else but they 'follow' football and side towards one team but that doesn't bother me too much , they never claim to be big fans .

I'll never choose 1, and I have been to Anfield.

Why would I want to watch a shower of cunts out-cunt each other?

I'd like to know though, is it any match at Anfield?

Is it really relevant? I'd happily go see Liverpool play the Liverpool reserves if just to get to Anfield ...

And the Bernabeu is far better!

I have to admit that I've never had the experiences that some of you may have had in going to the games, and perhaps because of that there's a lack of emotional attachment to the ground itself. Would I visit Anfield even if there was no match going on? Probably. But if you're asking me to choose between that or some reserve game and the El Classico, I'd definitely have to think twice before deciding. It's a matter of which opportunity is harder to come by.

I feel the same way. Wanted to make a trip end of next year after my studies but my 2 boys are not budging. They feel that I must rather downgrade the car so thati cn take them with.

SkySports fan is a fan that supports a club because its fashionable to like everyone else. Knows all the facts about the club but hasn't lived through the ups and downs every season.

ha ha - the same place where all my wife's family is from (well bar her mamma)

I want to go back to Anfield. And the lovely city of Liverpool. Hopefully in the spring. Was much too short a visit last time.

That's a very logical answer; but logic is the first thing that goes out the window the moment you step into the Kop
