i've been a strong critic in the past and i stand by alot of what i said at the time. Perhaps scared by how badly the club had been run in the recent past i was unwilling to unconditionally back him just because someone made him our manager , i wanted to see proof that he deserved the position and was the man to carry out a very tough job . That and there was weirdly just something about him that i didn't warm to despite him probably being the liverpool manager i've agreed with the most in a long time.
I'm well aware of the need to be patient but even still i wasn't too encouraged by the progress made in the first season . And even at the start of this there was alot that worried me and didn't seem to be improving , it was one step forward and one back - remember how crap were at hull in december ?. But since then alot has come together and the results have by and large been excellent while some of those things that concerned me have improved greatly .
I think my biggest worry has been his signings , i still don't think we've got enough out of most of them and so often a manager is defined by his signings . Thankfully Rodgers was able to improve the players already here and made great youth promotions , both of which he deserves massive credit for. But imagine where the squad and team could be if we'd just got a bit more from those signings . So it will be interesting to see what happens this summer , with hopefully champs league football to offer can rodgers improve his record and sign players who really add to the first team ? Can it all come together with some of his previous signings coming good also ?
I still have some worries (the defence for one) but the great thing is imagine how good we can be if we do managed to improve these .
Anyway as i just said in another thread , i believe rogers has been evolving in the job and that is very impressive . We shit goals , neutrals like watching us and we're doing things the right way as a club . Long may it continue and credit to rodgers for what he has achieved so far . He's given me alot of proof that he's the man for the job .
