Kane, Vardy, Milner and Drinkwater make the Uefa barometer but the latter will not be going to Euro 2016
England midfielder James Milner is the fifth best player in Europe, according to a Uefa 'barometer'.
Leicester City midfielder Danny Drinkwater, who was left out of Roy Hogdson's 23-man squad on Tuesday, is the eighth highest-ranked Englishman.
Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo tops the Uefa barometer, with Sweden striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic second.
The list takes into account form for club and country from 1 January, 2016 and in Euro 2016 qualifying.
"The barometer runs official player statistics through a specially designed algorithm to create rankings based on player performances," said Uefa.
Players are classed as goalkeepers, full-backs, central defenders, defensive midfielders, central midfielders, attacking midfielders, wingers and forwards.
Uefa added: "The data considered for each player is specific to the position type.
"For example, tackles and interceptions are considered to be key statistics for defensive midfielders, while successful dribbles and crosses are core stats for wingers."
Euro 2016 in France starts on 10 June.

Muller is 31st.. Who the fuck comes up with these lists? Is Milner 5th due to his number of side ways passes? Fuck me.. Henderson would be number 1 if he was fit!

Utter wank!

I don't think the thread was helped by the utterly inept title it was given, and it went downhill from there.

But I suspect Milner's lofty position is due to the amount of goals (7) and assists (14) that he has, which are indeed very impressive. But then he's always been a very good player.

Can we merge this with the Liverpool vs Barcelona thread nearer the time to give us a confidence boost ahead of the game?

Yeah, it's an OK thread. It has at the very least stimulated a bit of debate.

But whatever algorithm and data was used, the absence of the likes of Muller and De Gea seems to render it all rather irrelevant
