Managers who won't accept criticism and continually justify their own actions - surely not?

Exhibit A
Mourinho

Exhibit B
Wenger

Exhibit C
Ferguson

A trait of the managerially inclined I think

Tell me DirtyHo, does Rafa even come close to anyone of them in terms of quality ? Morinho maybe, but Wanker and Ferguscum ? Not in a 100 years !

however, i was fairly amazed when a mate of mine said he'd been permanently banned from there just for calling hodgson a 'dithering old twat'.
I've been banned for sarcastically saying that Rafa eats newborn babies, in an obvious mocking reference to a previous poster.

I've been banned for speaking "off topic too much" in a way that could be seen to be commenting on a match that was going on.

I've been banned for saying that Huang's bid seemed seriously dodgy, and wondering why everyone was happy to believe Bamba simply because he was being given an account of a situation they didn't have access to.

I've been banned for saying that Bamba only knew what Huang's PR told him.

They have a militant core of earnest retards that seem to set the terms for all debate. We definitely have a sort of group think here, but if you can fight your corner, it's encouraged and appreciated.
You should be perma-banned for not being able to take a hint.

I have been. I'm a rather sad person, as for some reason, it rather amuses me to be in this wierd position where you know you are going to be banned for defending a reasonable position, as if you're the likes of momo on here.

Anything beats just talking football right now.

Plot = Lost.

I'd be fucked off if I was an Inter fan. Not only does he never stop talking about LFC, he's already trawled out the 'we need loads of new players in January' line.
He never stops that one does he?? How many players did we have on our books when he left? And just a small comparison, how many good players did we have?

You must not have cum into a milk bottle. Newbie error.

Going back to what he's on about - slagging Pursssslow - the milk analogy is the equivalent to 'if it walks like a duck...' Isn't it?

the scary thing is i'm not sure it qualifies as a cult, because as i've said before, they've got absolutely loads of posters, here's how a few sites compare in the 'most online ever' stakes:

us: 282
est: 394
YNWA: 2024
RAWK: 9309
Indeed. I think we're more of a 'cult' site. Frequenting other sites I do think we're a lot more liberal on here and far less serious than some forums. It's a style that doesn't sit well with a lot of other forum users. It suprises me when people kick off on the occasions we actually do have to moderate.

it's more than likely because people aren't used to seeing it implemented. On RAWK theres prob 60+ bannings a day and more modding going on. Here, it's a nice cup of tea and a biscuit until brendan decides to call everyone a cunt

I'm sure I saw gkmacca on RAWK the other day. He didn't used to be particularly serious. Unless someone upset him.

I mean, I doubt The Lucas Diaries would go down very well over there!

Despite all the amusing anecdotes, gkmacca took himself about as seriously as anyone we've had on these forums. That was his problem.

RAWK is the biggest Liverpool forum (unofficial at least) on the net and that's always going to mean it carries more than it's share of bellends. They have a group of regulars that take the whole thing far far far too seriously, which spoils the party too often, but the forum does have it's plus points... like the photoshop thread.

I'm having a nice cup of tea right now.
No biscuit, though. Not a massive biscuit fan, plus they make you fat and I'm wearing a tight shirt.

That RAWK has got more in common with Westboro Baptists boards than here. It's like an evangelical religion, and you have to believe in certain core tenets of the faith.

I think here we've got over the fact that not everyone on the kop used to be a docker and that there may be differing valid world views going on in this here granfalloon.

Oh yeah

A granfalloon, in the fictional religion of Bokononism (created by Kurt Vonnegut in his 1963 novel Cat's Cradle), is defined as a "false karass." That is, it is a group of people who outwardly choose or claim to have a shared identity or purpose, but whose mutual association is actually meaningless.

Benitez has also admitted to mistakes during his time in charge:
“Did we make mistakes? Obviously. But 82, 86 points, four trophies, three more finals in a difficult time when the owners were changing, when the chief executives were changing. A lot of things were changing. Now people can see it, no? It was a big, big problem. I’ll say it again, we made mistakes. But people are talking about players who were not good enough, if you put five or six of these players together, the cost would be five million. It’s not easy to wheel and deal and at the same time to win and sign players like Torres, Reina, Mascherano, Aquilani, Skrtel, Johnson, Lucas Leiva, Agger or Kuyt.â€
Brendan is right regarding Rafa's "Milk" reference equating to "If it walk like a duck........."

I was a Rafa fan but was one of the first advocating him getting the boot. He admitted to making mistakes and some real woppers that came home to roost. Alonso was his "Waterloo!" He lost his footballing focus and everything became a political mess. In the end, the team suffered and the results reflected that. 7th was never good enough and is always going to be unacceptable.......... until this season that is!

Roy is inept and while Rafa may not be everyone's cup of tea, at least we had leadership and direction under him. With Roy, it feels like we've been cast out to sea with a teaspoon as an oar! The sooner we get rid of him the better.

I'm not sure how you define "quality".
If it's winning things you'd have to put it Ferguson, Mourinho, Wenger I think (although Ferguson has the advantage of so many years in the game and at one club).
If it was how enjoyable to watch their teams Wenger, Ferguson, Mourinho.
I'd say that Benitez is behind all three at the moment, but Arsenal haven't won much in a while.
Benitez for all his faults does have 2 leagues in Spain, an FA cup and a Champions League.
If he does well at Inter he may well overtake Wenger for trophies but not for the attractiveness of his football.

TBH if he keeps going as he has people (non MU fans) might look back in the future and see Mourinho as superior to Fersguson, because he has won so much in so many different places in such a short period of time.

If he wins the league at Real then he'll have won the league in 4 different countries - has anyone else done that?
I hate him but it's pretty impressive.

It is impressive but I reckon the CL with Porto is moreso. I mean at Chelsea he got the biggest budget the footy world has ever seen and then he got it again at Inter, and now he's got massive pockets again at Real. I know dosh doesn't guarantee success - and if you've got it then he's defo someone you would trust to turn it into titles, but I think making Porto champions of Europe on a low budget is what proves his talent overall.

Yep he's obviously a very talented manager.
Shame he's a preening tosspot (players seem to like him though so maybe there's a bit of pantomime villain to it?)

crump> good point about porto. i don't want to turn this into a rafa v jose thing - because i don't really like mourinho and i know he'd win - but what do people think was the biggest achievement, jose winning the CL with porto or rafa doing it with us?

both came out of nowhere - i think porto definitely had the easier run to the trophy, although obviously won it in much more commanding style in the end. the XIs that won it were probably of similar quality, right? although the porto team had been together longer and that was their crowning glory, and they had won the uefa cup the year before...personally, i think overall rafa shades it just about.

They're both amazing achievments. I think the difference is that when Jose was feeling the pressure and about to snap he took a year's sabbatical, where Rafa just marched on into stupidland.

I hated that Porto team though - they were a bunch of cheats.
The Uefa game against Celtic was toe-curling embarrassment.
I can't remember exactly but one of their players went of the pitch on the buggy thing about 5 or 6 times time wasting and feigning injury - every time he just jogged back on without a hint of shame.
Awful
