Midfielders other than Bellingham

In all seriousness. I wouldn't mind Ward Prowse. It'd be a Milner type signing.

Plus it'd mean our full backs stop taking corners and Free Kicks
JWP would be a good signing for corners and free kicks alone. He has scored 9 goals this season so far for a bottom of the table heap of a team. Possibly could do a swap deal which sees CJ going to Southampton and we take JWP.

Anybody suggesting JWP would be a good signing needs perma banning.

Human welfare is at stake here.

I agree to the idea of JWP as a cheap as fuck, does a job signing. But he won't be. He'd cost stupid money, so it's moot

Even if they go down? Anyway, it's gonna happen. JWP will probably end up at Newcastle or West Ham

So they'll give us their talisman and best player, and we'll give them a youth player no one thinks highly of? Can't see any reason why they won't agree to such an enticing deal.

2 very good reasons, but regardless Klopp I mean Pep L, isn't interested in him
1) They're getting relegated 2)CJ will be 22 and price will increase over time and JWP is getting older

A new report by Spanish outlet Marca has stated that an initial £97m bid has been made by the Anfield-based side for their long-term midfield target.
The report does, however, suggest that the fee might not be big enough to lure the English sensation away from Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund want €150m which includes realistic addons

Curtis Jones? 😛

Wouldn't mind JWP at the right price - leader, helps with the home-grown quota, bridge the gap between the 30s (e.g. Hendo) and the young 20s (e.g. Jones).

(vs. Leicester, Man Utd, Brentford, Tottenham)

Surrounded by better players, his assists and contribution will defo. be more obvious. (Maybe not the best of references but Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa got picked up by Napoli when Fulham got relegated and has been an integral part in their success).

this is it, on a free or for a bargain absolutely but that isn’t the case

unless he has some magic relegation clause…?

These are midfielders we’ve been linked with so far:

Kouadio Kone (Gladbach)
Khepren Thuram (Nice)
Ryan Gravenberch (Bayern)
Moises Caicedo (Brighton)
Teun Koopmeiners (Atalanta)
Stanislav Lobotka (Napoli)
Matheus Nunes (Wolves)
Mason Mount (Chelsea)
Gavi (Barcelona)

Am I forgetting anyone? Which 2 players would you sign out of this list?

Dewsbury-Hall (Leicester)
Sofyan Amrabat (Fiorentina)

My old English teacher would admonish you for using "But" at the beginning of a sentence.

[article]
Can You Start A Sentence With But?
Can you start a sentence with but? English teachers love to tell us it’s against the rules. But there is nothing wrong with starting a sentence with but.
As you grow as a writer, you learn that many of the rules you were taught in school aren’t really rules at all. Can you start a sentence with but? Your third-grade teacher probably told you this was absolutely verboten. However, this is an example of a common rule that is misleading. There is nothing wrong with starting a sentence with but or any other coordinating conjunction. In fact, authorities as lofty as The Elements of Style, The Chicago Style Manual, and William Shakespeare all begin sentences with the word “but.” In the case of the former two examples for analyzing a sentence, they also overtly say that it is permissible.
[/article] https://becomeawritertoday.com/can-you-start-a-sentence-with-but/

The bard and myself, both concur that starting a sentence with "But" is perfectly permissible.

I had a bad typing day yesterday, but I have not yet melted down, @momoWASboss

[article]
The 20-year-old is attracting interest at home and from England with his present deal at boyhood club Celta Vigo set to expire in June 2026. Veiga to date has made no fewer than 44 appearances in all competitions subsequently registering nine goals (all in this current La Liga campaign) and creating three more.

Going even further, Jamal Musiala is the only U21 midfielder with more goals than Veiga in Europe’s top five leagues this season, in some quarters Veiga is seen as an alternative for the much-wanted Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.

Liverpool are among those linked by Cadena Ser sports show El Larguero, along with Arsenal and Newcastle United. The Spain-based outlet claim that while Veiga’s advisors are encouraging him to move to the Premier League, Real Madrid are his preferred destination.

His release clause is around £35million but El Larguero also say their sources believe Celta Vigo may sell for even less,
despite Mouriño’s comments.

“We want to keep Gabri Veiga but it will be impossible due to release clause,” the Celta president told reporters.

“We know some bids he has, impossible to match.”

Great so the wish version of Bellingham

Within 30 minutes of his debut, the site will have concluded that he’s too old, doesn’t have the legs to play in a Klopp midfield, is in fact shite and that it was Pep L’s fault he was signed in the first place.

The problem is to take free kicks and corners you have to be on the field for the other minutes, too. Shame. Otherwise, I would agree.

Not sure what you mean, take a look at @King Binny 's post.
I think we all agree JWP on a reasonable fee reflecting his age would be welcomed. This the way I am looking at it, you' re only allowed 17 non home grown players and the rest of a 25 man squad has to be homegrown. Now when you have players like CJ, Hendo and Milner in MF, and you can only look at homegrown options you're not left with huge abundance of choice.
Other than Jude, we have his brother, Gallagher, Matt O'Reilly and Alex Scott player's I would call moneyball signings. Then you have Mount and Rice as the other two who would cost £60m plus. Olise would be a brilliant signing but I doubt he would go for less than £55m

There's this thread, and then there's the list on Julian Ward's desktop, which probably reads:

Sander Berge
Tyler Morton
Curtis Jones
John Mcginn
Josh Brownhill

It’s what’s on Pep Lijnders’s desktop is what counts.

Pep Lijnders reads to himself from the Intensity book every night before he goes to sleep in his Pep Lijnders sheets wearing a Pep Lijnders pajamas.

I reckon they wouldn’t begrudge him a big move at around 40-45m, and nearer 30-35m if relegated.

I think he’s got oodles of unrealised potential
