Could it not be the case that Benitez didn't really want Owen back and was not ready to throw his whole budget at a player who would more than likely be injured half the season?

When in reality he left 2 weeks before the deadline and we spent double the amount we got for him a week later
The reason we didn't buy a replacement for Owen when he left was not down to lack of time.
