Mayweather V Pacquaio

I'm not surprised. After the Marquez fight he probably thinks Manny's got his work cut out getting ready at all.

There was a spell when Manny was so impressive that I thought he'd win if they got it on then, but for most of the time the bout's been mooted I've thought Mayweather would be the more likely winner. After Marquez I'm firming up that view. Manny would have a right job on IMO.

Oh, if Manny catches him a good one it's goodnight Floyd, but catching him isn't easy at the best of times, and Manny may just be starting on the downward slope now.

I was thinking this as well. I think he should call it quits soon, retire at or near the top of his game.

I don't think he will though.

It's looking like Mayweather vs Cotto on the 5th May and Pacquiao vs Bradley in June.

With Mayweather in the slammer during the summer, they could meet in the autumn; we'll see.

This fight will never happen. Too many egos and not enough concessions despite the mountains of money.

I'll tell you what will happen.

Mayweather will go to jail and serve his sentence.

A fight against Pacquaio will be announced.

Mayweather will then do his 24/7 HBO special training in a jail.

It's the Money Mayweather way of doing things 😉

Hahaha Roopy, I lke the way you think.

Roger Mayweather and Roach seem to be optimistic that a fight will happen but it looks like Alvarez and Martinez are willing and eager opponents lined up for Mayweather. Who knows that maybe Manny's 70-30 pay per view split offer for the winner may just swing it.

However, I'll only believe it once they sign. A case of one too many times that's there's been false hope. Let Don King take the reigns and make the fight.

I've always thought that Mayweather would beat Manny quite easily. I hope this isn't the case and Manny knocks the bejaysus out of him. All my instincts shout at me Mayweather on wide UD points though.
On a side note, I see that Roy Jones has got himself a job in the game as a corner man. He was in Kendall Holts corner for his facile win over Coleman. Jones has a wealth of experience to bring to any up and coming fighter and Holt looks to be in the same mould as Roy. A mover, a great technician with a proper punch.

For a while Manny was at the top of his form after Mayweather's first "retirement" and I doubt very much that Mayweather would have won easily (if he won at all) at that point. However, when they've both been on song, and now that Mayweather is and Manny appaz.isn't any more, I agree that Mayweather has to be favourite, though I'm still not too sure about "easily".

Possibly so mate. I just think it's a case of styles make fights. In this case I think Manny is tailor made for Mayweather. Chances are that Manny would be the puncher in the fight, possibly a re-run of Leonard-Hearns 1, only with Mayweather staying out of trouble and not tiring at the end.
It's only my view, but I think Mayweather would get the better of Manny at any point during their respective 'peaks'.
I really hope I'm wrong though as I'd love to see Manny polishing the canvas with Mayweathers head.

Never gonna happen now, Manny just robbed in one of the worst decisions Ive ever seen in his fight against Timothy Bradley. There will inevitably be a rematch. Dont think Floyd v Manny will ever happen now, Manny will retire soon, and his decline seems to be moving faster than Mayweathers, who is also getting caught more often than he used to

I also wonder if Manny has quite the hunger he used to have - though, if the Bradley decision was that bad (I didn't see the fight), he'll want to put the record straight there.

I didn't realise such reviews were available. There must have been dozens of fights over the years which could have done with them.

That's what I was thinking. I wonder what brought this one about? Well apart from it being the wrong decision of course.

I wonder who fixed this fight ?

Bob Arum promotes both fighters, had a date pencilled in for Manny's next fight already - no opponent. A rematch clause in the contract. No obvious big money next opponent otherwise.

Mayweather will knock Pacquiao out when this fight happens. Age is catching up with both of them but Manny has been in more wars than Mayweather. Mayweather has by and large avoided toe to toe combat and is in much the better shape and condition for it.

Manny wants to retire soon and concentrate on politics. He hasn't been at his best recently and age is slowing him down. He has his lost hunger, speed, power and stamina but more importantly his aura of invincibility.

Mayweather will dangle the carrot and entice Pacquiao into a fight. I bet that the $40M Mayweather offered him looks very appealing now after his last 2 fights.
