Maxi is a done deal it seems. Swedish newspapers are reporting that Maxis' agent is in Liverpool to finalise the deal. Also..

Maxi Rodriguez set to sign Liverpool deal on Wednesday as snow delays Argentina star's arrival at Anfield

Comments (0) Add to My Stories Maxi Rodriguez is set to arrive at Liverpool on Wednesday to complete his move from Atletico Madrid.

The Argentina midfielder has seen his switch delayed by the snow, but reports in Spain say he is due to fly in and complete a medical at Mellwood before finalising the deal.

It has even been suggested the £1.5million-rated 29-year-old could be joining on a free transfer as cash-strapped Atleti push to get him off their wage bill.

Kirkland, like Rob Green (when at Norwich) and Scott Carson are what I call relegation keepers. They look good cause they have about 20 shots on target on them each game, they are bound to save some. They are excellent shot stoppers but might lack the concentration levels to do well at a big club where they might have to do nothing for the best part of the game then react to make an important save.

Glasswrists is fucking shit. He was probably one of the first Liverpool players I decided to mount an internet war against back on KT. I hated him.

Its still that free kick against everton I have nightmares about. The lack of any kind of speed was remarkable.

To be fair, if he'd moved any faster he'd have shattered into a million pieces on hitting the turf.

I still talk about that goal regularly.
It is in the middle of the goal and it barley made it over the line.
Appalling.

That is why I said they are only look good due to the high volume of shots on target on them whilst playing for shit clubs.

Remember his father had money on him as a child to play for England senior team. Did he ever get that full cap?

Poor the Mr. Kirkland.

Just over 6 I think and he went for around 3.5

On this Monday's Guardian podcast, Sid Lowe was asked about Maxi and how come Atletico are willing to let him go.

His response was that he thinks this could be one of those transfers were both sides win. He said we get a talented player that fits a tight budget , and Atletico get rid of a high earner who has been shit for a year and has caused problems within the squad.

He thinks the move might reinvigorate Maxi and if it does we'll do well out of it.

I'm a little bit concerned about him being rubbish for a while personally.

Just what we need, another demotivated player ala Babel.

*look away*

Id be concerned too if we were signing someone with really poor proffesionalism but Maxi had been pretty good through out his career..

Maybe all he really needs is a change of scenery. I certainly hope so if we're signing him on a permanent deal, but I've been impressed when I've watched him in the past, so at the price quoted (and given that we don't currently have the money to set our sights higher anyway) I'd say it's a risk worth taking.

It appears the weather has calmed down enough for Liverpool to make their first signing of the transfer window.

That news comes from the Mail online which claims that Argentine Maxi Rodriguez, is set to fly into John Lennon airport today to complete his move from Athletico Madrid.

Video? I forget how bad it was.

I haven't read the whole thread, but Maxi is a RW isn't he? So where will he play for us? Surely Dirk/Yossi won't be dropped. Can he play on the left? Sorry if I'm quiffing...
Why do I get a feeling that Maxi will be our RW's equivalent of Riera ?
To be honest im not sure how he'll work out. But i do know that although he has lost his place at Atletico this season, his averages for the games he has played this season (8 in 24) are level with his career average which is generally around 1 in 3! Quiqe Flores seems to have lost faith in him and hopefully he can resurrect himself here!

If Aqualani passed one i'm sure Maxi will have no worries.

I don't know why we even bother doing them.

When people go to buy a car they always look under the bonnet and give a knowing nod, despite knowing nothing about cars and seem content enough knowing the thing has an engine.

I doubt our medicals are much different.
