Yeah, and Messi and Ronaldo. It's weird that some players won't leave Bayern, Barcelona or Real Madrid unless those teams want to sell them

Kroos, Otamendi, Bale, Ramos, Pedro, Fabregas, Thiago etc etc

Just about anyone half decent. Instead they've paid to much for shite like Rojo and 250k a week for a over the hill Schweinsteiger.

So who would they sign as manager, that would worry us?

That they could get?

They must be annoyed over Klopp coming to us,

I don't him there.

Say what you like about him, he always wins the league with a new club by his second season.

I don't want Utd winning the league in 17/18.

I'd much prefer LVG stays or Giggs gets it.

The small and embattled Bobby Charlton 'Anyone But Mourinho camp, according to some sources, have grown increasingly keen on considering Koeman as a possible candidate.

Well he does know how to beat us....

In all seriousness though, I thought they would be all over Pochettino.

I can't see how it won't be Mourinho.

They have a long association with Mendes already

I'm sure he has been considered, but it would be a strange move for him considering the upward trajectory of Spurs - new ground, more cash, CL football, some of the best young players in the world, title challenge etc.

I guess we will have to see the extent of Levy's ambition. Will he sell his best players this season or keep them to challenge again next year? I could see him going off if the likes of Kane, Aili etc leave.

Levy won't sell Kane or Delle Ali unless those players agitate hard for a move, which is very, very unlikely - unless Pochettino leaves

I hope Mendes manages to find them a few players worse than Bebe.

What worries me is he owes them a favour or two after they took Di Maria and Falcao when nobody wanted them.

That plus their young players like Rashford are clearly quite good and going to get better.

Some genuine quality Mendes clients could easily reshape that team quickly. For example James Rodriguez is already being linked and seems to be leaving Madrid.

James has had a real tough time in Madrid though - lack of application, non-stop reports about being overweight and in general, struggling to cement his position as a Madrid regular. They'll probably either get him and/or Kroos, who hasn't had much of a chance with Zizou.

Did all these rumours surface when Rafa didn't want to play him ?

I wouldn't be put off by those. He's had a huge workload over the past few years - injuries and a down period are kind of inevitable.

If he was available to us I'd take him

Nah, he's barely playing under Zizou from what I understand ... They're gonna be a vastly different team next year, and he'll be one of the ones they get rid of imo.

He's had the same issues with Zidane in charge as he had when Rafa was their manager.
He'll probably be one of the players that leaves this summer.

Still a very good player mind. But could end up in the same way as the Di Maria transfer.

A Manc friend of mine (yes, I know) reckons there's increasing scuttlebutt to this effect around the city.

As Cloggy mentioned, the vast majority of United fans don't want Mourinho as they think he's a cunt.

Talking of which; recently I've had quite a few conversations with "hard-core" United fans who have deemed Slur Alex a "Judas Cunt"! This opinion seems to be gaining momentum amongst fans and the rationale behind the argument is that all their current travails stem from the Glazers takeover and if Slur Alex hadn't given them his 100% backing and encourage the fans to do the same it would have made the takeover very difficult. They seem to think that he sold out because the Glazers gave him more money and he put his fortunes ahead of the clubs.

Koeman certainly isn't going to be intimidated by any big name players. He was much better himself than anybody they have.

That's like people who stop listening to a singer whenever they "sell out".

I think we owe it to them to spread this analysis.

By "his fortunes" do you mean his salary? Or that he simply didn't want to jeopardise his unassailable position by annoying the Glazers? Or both?

It's not as if they haven't had any success under the Glazers, and what would Baconface have achieved by being vocal in his dissatisfaction? They won't sell for less than $2bn, so he might have reasoned that it would do more harm than good. There's a lot you can say about him, but in general, not wanting the best for United would seem to be a bit of a stretch.

As for him expediting their takeover, he quite obviously wanted shut of the horse-trainers, but was he supposed to have done his own background check and due diligence of The Glazers too? He was the manager. How many managers have voiced disapproval or resigned because of the prospect of new ownership?

The implication seems to be that the Glazers bought Ferguson's support with a variety of inducements including his ambassadorial role now, although to outsiders his current role seems an apt reward for 20+ years of success.

In fairness there were many United fans who were disgruntled about Ferguson's compliance with the the Glazers from day one notwithstanding their continued success under the Glazers initially.

I agree that it would have been very difficult for Ferguson to criticise the takeover and I do think it's remarkable that so-called die-hard United fans are openly condemning him to such a degree but it's also lovely to hear United fans going through such agonies. I try to appear sympathetic to their plight as they tell me their woes but truth be told their woe makes me hard.

I do think he put his fortunes ahead of the clubs - he took a short term approach in his last couple of years and didn't consider the medium term for the club. The RVP signing being the shining example.

I'm not sure anything Ferguson could have said would have affected the takeover.

He probably couldn't have done much to stop the takeover but after a couple of years he could have done what Rafa did against Gillett and Hicks. Leak the truth so the media and the fans got the knowledge about how bad they are.

He would have risked his job but the fans could have stopped him from being sacked like we did when Gillett and Hicks wanted to sack Rafa.

Rafa put the club first and that is something Ferguson have never done.
