Mascherano upset over 'lies'

Status
Not open for further replies.
Sunny, nobody questioned his heart when he played. There's no excuse for refusing to play. He is a massive CUNT. His family not settling is something to consider but his statements expose all the smoke and mirrors.

Rafa and Liverpool rescued Mascherano from WHU Reserves for fuck sake. That's a fact. Carra and Gerrard are a rare breed in the professional era. Loyalty is only shown to the almighty $...

He's not a MASSIVE cunt. He was a cunt for refusing to play, if that is true. When he was on the pitch his effort could not be questioned - maybe his temperament at times. His family couldn't settle, fair enough. Whatever promises were made or not made he was contracted to the club and the club had given certain assurances he could go if an acceptable offer was made. We had a duty to ourselves as a club to make sure an acceptable offer was received. Statements about being inhumane were hysterical. End of the day, he's gone now - it's done and there's really no point in dragging the soap opera out.
Sunny you need to read his statements since he left. He maintains that his family was NOT the reason he wanted to move, and that LFC were lieing by saying that.
Much though he was a great favourite of mine, Im afraid I lost a lot of respect for him in the end.

OK, move along please.

There's nothing to see here.

Nothing to see.

Sunny, Jules, Portly, why are you fellas still going on about his family? He said that's not why he wanted to move.

I don't think I have said anything about Mascherano since he left. I don't have much interest in what he has to say now he is no longer a Liverpool player.

Javier Mascherano blames Liverpool 'lies' for acrimonious exit
• Mascherano took pay cut to join Barcelona
• Decision to leave had nothing to do with his family

Javier Mascherano's desperation to leave Liverpool led the Argentina captain to take a pay cut to complete his £20m move to Barcelona. The midfielder has claimed broken promises – and not his family's failure to settle on Merseyside – prompted his decision to force a move from Anfield.

The 26-year-old finally joined the Spanish champions on Monday night following a 12-month transfer pursuit plus a bitter end to his Anfield career, amid suggestions he refused to play in Liverpool's 3-0 defeat at Manchester City to secure an exit. Mascherano rejects that allegation and has denied that his main motivation for leaving Liverpool was to be reunited with his wife and young children, who have lived in Buenos Aires for most of his time on Merseyside.

Instead Mascherano, who was refused a move to Barcelona last summer but promised he could leave if Liverpool received an acceptable offer this year, and who was offered a new contract at Anfield last season, has blamed his former club for the split.

"When they started to involve my family and to say things that didn't make sense, I obviously suffered," he said. "They'd promised me something for a whole year and they never fulfilled their promise. And that didn't have anything to do with my family or anything else. When you read or hear lies, you obviously get angry."

In announcing their agreement with Liverpool last week Barcelona praised "the intensive efforts made by the club in the final hours and through the player himself in the negotiations", and it is understood Mascherano accepted less than his £70,000-a-week wage at Anfield to secure a four-year contract at the Camp Nou. The midfielder said today: "I'd also like to thank the club for their efforts. They've spent a lot of money and it was my duty to give way a bit to make this dream come true. When this chance came up I didn't hesitate. I've joined the best club in the world and the best team in the world."

Mascherano expressed his gratitude to the former Liverpool manager Rafael Benítez for rescuing him from a miserable spell at West Ham United in 2007. He said: "Rafa taught me tactics. He's one of the coaches who have taught me the most in my career and I'm very grateful to him. He was fundamental. He gave me the chance to join Liverpool. He had confidence in me at a time when, perhaps, nobody would have dreamed of giving me an opportunity. I'll be grateful to him all my life."

Liverpool's new £3.5m signing Paul Konchesky is to make his debut in Jamie Carragher's testimonial against an Everton XI at Anfield on Saturday.

Apology not necessary old chap!

Mascherano is now in the past - I'm sure Poulsen can fill his boots perfectly adequately!

:🙂

Well I'd like to know the reason why he wanted to move then. The unsettled family rumours have been about for over a year and he's said fuck all about them being 'lies' up to now. In a televised interview he said:

The only thing that I want to say is that I don't have anything against the Liverpool supporters and the Liverpool people.

"My problem is not to play for Liverpool. I am very proud to play for Liverpool. It's another thing.

"I say to him that maybe for my life I prefer to change the country [where I play], not to change the club. That is the fact."

So that alludes to him and or/his family being unsettled. Now he's saying it's something else entirely ?

I think he's full of shit but, then again, I'm really not arsed. As I say, he's gone and should just forget about it

To answer your question, gene, the bolded bit in the article which you additionally underlined is rubbish. It's the writer's presumably deliberately shit-stirring gloss on what Masher actually said, which was that his family and LFC's supposedly broken promises were entirely separate issues, which LFC had sought to confuse (presumably via things such as Roy's IMO equally unnecessary reference to his "selfishness&quot😉. Nowhere does he deny that his family was unsettled, nor could he have done when they spent the vast bulk of their time across the Atlantic.
Yes - in fact it would be a fucking miracle!! ;D
Poulsen for all his qualities (he has got a few actually) is not going to address the game in the same way as Masher did as you probably already know. He's not as pacy nor does he cover as much ground as the little terrier and that is something us fans has got to get used too.

Hopefully he can be a balanced and intelligent addition in midfield however in the Hamann mould if you like who can somehow stabilize the back whilst always looking for the direct forward pass.

He'll probably never set the world alight but he could turn out to be a rather useful and important player for us in years to come.

Sorry Jules, I disagree. To me he's clearly saying that the issue wasn't his family and he's accusing our club of lying by saying that it was.

There's a lot of shit-stirring in the media but in this case, these are direct quotes from Mascherano. Liverpool fans, especially in places like RAWK, have gone a bit mental in thinking that everything reported in the media is an attempt to undermine the club and cause trouble. Sometimes, like here, they're just reporting what is actually being said and putting a quite rational analysis to it.

Yes KHL, I wasn't entirely serious and I accept Poulsen can do a job for us. The "defensive midfielder" role is not a glamorous one and good work in that department often goes un-noticed unless the player is as spectacularly good at it as Mascherano.

“This isn’t about Liverpool, it’s a private situation. If I can go to another country, maybe it will be better for my life and family.”

I thought the lies we're in reference to us telling him last year that he could leave this summer.

Anyway, he is gone so who cares.

EDIT : Just noticed Sunny basically said the same above.

Don't care much for all these stories to be honest.

He's not a Liverpool-player any more and although it's obvious that the club hasn't been treating him completely fair he's not doing himself any favours either. Anyways there's always two sides to every story and we should just move on as should he.

All I can say is out of the five cornerstones in our team of late in Carra, Reina, Torres, Gerrard and him, he's the one I'd miss the least.

Good luck in Spain.

Good Post. Hope Mascher has an Ibra style exit from Barca after sitting on the bench for two years.

Well, I can only speak for myself but I have no intention of being anything other than bitter and twisted about this.

*waves fist at everyone who's moving on*

Perhaps not but he was told he could leave last Season wasn't he? And then the Alonso-transfer changed those promises.

Anyways as said, there's always two sides to any story.
