Seemed a bit daft to sign a new contract when you were thinking about moving though?
Perhaps it was the clubs own way to say 'Sorry mate for the inconvenience, but we appreciate that you linger on for a few more years. Here have some more money'.

You know how many years was left of the initial contract?

To answer your question, gene, the bolded bit in the article which you additionally underlined is rubbish. It's the writer's presumably deliberately shit-stirring gloss on what Masher actually said, which was that his family and LFC's supposedly broken promises were entirely separate issues, which LFC had sought to confuse (presumably via things such as Roy's IMO equally unnecessary reference to his "selfishness&quot😉. Nowhere does he deny that his family was unsettled, nor could he have done when they spent the vast bulk of their time across the Atlantic.

Why do you say they are rubbish ? They are quotes arnt they?
As I said, "rubbish" refers specifically to the bit which gene not only bolded but also underlined, and no, that wasn't a quote. It was the hack's summary of what Masher said, and I don't agree with gene's view that it was an accurate summary.

"When they started to involve my family and to say things that didn't make sense, I obviously suffered," he said. "They'd promised me something for a whole year and they never fulfilled their promise. And that didn't have anything to do with my family or anything else. When you read or hear lies, you obviously get angry."

Yeah when they print with no quotes they are lazy journalists. When they print with quotes they are telling lies.

"I don't do much stuff in my free time, that's the truth," said Mascherano.

"I could go to London with my wife to do some shopping but I have already been to London 1,000 times and if I want to go to another city I would have to take a plane.

"What kills me about living in Liverpool is that there are only two Argentinians here with me, Emiliano Insua and Maxi Rodriguez.

"Insua and I live in a private neighbourhood. He lives in one tower and I live in the other. There are 15 metres between us and we used to look at each other through the window.

"Sometimes Zabaleta comes from Manchester but there is no way Carlos Tevez comes here. If I want to see him, I have to go to his place and knock on his door.

"He doesn't like to leave his home. So during the winter, during those four or five months, I have to stay at home all day with my family.

"I have no problem living in Liverpool, but I think my wife and daughters deserve to enjoy every day to the full and live their lives - but they have to be at home all day.

"My wife doesn't speak a word of English, so she depends 100 per cent on me.

"I live here with them. That's my world, that's my life." [/quot]

I can't be bothered trawling through the thread, but has anyone mentioned Carra's comments from today? He seemed pretty hell bent that Masher refused to play against City.

No where are they Mark?

OK found it..............

"Mascherano was great for Liverpool for three or four years and it was a privilege to play with them," Carragher told talkSPORT.

"But he let himself down badly and that left a bad taste in the mouth.

"If he'd played in that match he would have got a great send-off and it all would have been fine.

"But he ruined that and I think he'll regret it."

Which is bang on (apart from I obviously don't know if it was a priveleage to play with him, but I assume it was 😉 )

So that means he was lying when he said the club was lying.

Yes it does

Masher can rot on Barce's bench as they will favour the catalan Biscuits in midfield and eventually they will go for Cesc next year

Barce is not a patient club so if masher has a poor run of form - which is inevitable at some point- he'll find himself out on his arse and it'll serve him right

Been out allday so not seen any articles, it was reported on City that Carra had hit out over Masher and the way he refused to play for us.

Just had a quick look on newsnow and it seems there are a couple of reports from Spain about it but nothing in the English press.

Look four posts up , I found it.

And they say two heads are better than one 😉

Cheers Vlad, I was struggling to remember the jist of the report, but what he'd basically tried to say (according to City) was that he let himself down by not allowing the fans to say goodbye.

WHAT A FUCKING LIAR!!1111! CUNT!!

Ah well he has gone, there is nothing we can do about it now the window has closed, so hopefully Miereles will settle in and we will be saying Javier who? in 12 months.

Him and his family clearly made little effort to integrate into the English way of life, which is a great shame.

I get the sense that his family could have been happier here if they actually tried.

His life sounds fucking depressing to me.
