Clattenburg to referee Liverpool v City game

Mark Clattenburg has been appointed the referee for Sunday's clash between Liverpool and Manchester City at Anfield.

Sunday's crunch title clash between Manchester City and Liverpool at Anfield will be refereed by Mark Clattenburg.
The match is being billed as a title decider, with leaders Liverpool three points ahead of third-placed City but having played two games more.
Clattenburg has taken charge of two City games this season, the goalless draw at Stoke and the 3-0 home win over Swansea.
He also refereed Liverpool's recent 3-0 win at United, when he awarded three penalties to Brendan Rodgers' side and sent Nemanja Vidic off.

England’s World Cup referee Howard Webb has been dealt another blow by being overlooked for Sunday’s crucial title clash between Liverpool and Manchester City.
Webb has been given a string of low-profile matches since a calamitous performance in the Arsenal-Liverpool FA Cup tie two months ago. The 42-year-old will handle Crystal Palace v Aston Villa this weekend.
Instead, Mark Clattenburg will referee this weekend’s title clash at Anfield, he last officiated a Liverpool game on March 16 when the Reds beat Manchester United 3-0 at Old Trafford in which the official awarded the Premier League leaders three penalties.
The decision to appoint Clattenburg as referee will be a welcomed relief to Liverpool supporters. who feared Webb would be the official for this important fixture.

It is no secret that Webb is not the fans’ favourite referee and many mocked him on social media sites by portraying him with a Manchester United shirt with his history of awarding Liverpool’s rivals so many big decisions.
But Webb has kept up his reputation of Liverpool’s most hated referee this season with him making more decisions against the Reds in high-profile games.
Webb refused to give Liverpool a penalty against Chelsea earlier in the season when Samuel Eto’o clearly upended Luis Suarez in the penalty area, then during the FA Cup defeat to Arsenal he refused to award the Reds their second spot-kick of the match when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain blatantly fouled the Uruguayan striker.
Avoiding Webb in such a crucial fixture is a massive boost for Liverpool because, although the FA rate him as our top referee, my opinion is he has been unfair on Liverpool in the past.

The story under that one is about Suarez being told to leave Liverpool and join Manchester United. It is written by the bloke that looks like Bert off Sesame Street.

Luis Suarez has been urged to quit Liverpool and make the controversial move to Manchester United at the end of the season.
Suarez was given the advice by compatriot and former United striker Diego Forlan, who claims he is in regular contact with the Reds’ number seven over his Anfield future.
Forlan endured a sticky spell at United before moving on to Villarreal and then Atletico Madrid, but despite his struggles, he believes Suarez should switch to Old Trafford.
‘We spoke a few days ago,’ said Forlan.
‘He asked me if I think he should stay at Liverpool. All I told him was to think about going to Manchester United.

‘I know he loves Liverpool, the fans and the city, but I think the best thing for his career would be to move to Old Trafford.’
While the transfer might be good news for Suarez’s career (according to Forlan at least), it is unlikely to go down well among Liverpool fans – with many still furious with the striker following the racism storm involving Patrice Evra.

Good post mate, but its on the wrong thread. There are plenty of Suarez threads you could attach it to. And btw the Journo in question looks like Yesil.

Not so sure he is a real journo. It is included here as an example of the quality of the previous link.

Deffo Bert

Aren't you glad somebody told us that "many" of us are still furious with Suarez "following the racism storm involving Patrice Evra"? I'd really noticed how that keeps coming up, in between celebrating his 29 goals and counting.

What a spawny cnut that pretend hack is. Comparing him to Bert is an insult to Bert.
