Firstly because he hates playing there. Secondly Rodgers has stated he wants gerrard in midfield and thirdly because he doesn't have the legs to play that position. We need to minimise the amount of running he does to get the best out of him for a number of years.

Will it involve doing a lot of running in that position and also will he have to stick on that right side ? I mean he's SG and I think every manager knows that he likes to roam about all over the middle and the wings so I don't think if we do play him there he will fixed to that position. Also I actually think the opposite of what you say Glen in that I think he would have to do a lot of work if he was stuck in the middle due to the active nature of central midfield, and IMO higher risk of injury. The wing position on the right is usually a quieter position in my view and also he will be backed up Glen Jo who has pace to ensure defensive cover. You could be right though.
