We've no real idea how long it'll be for, do we? Regardless of whether or not there's an agreed fee at the end of it, there's still the possibility of him staying after the loan is done. Personally speaking, if it comes off, I'll be happy having him here for a year and him helping get us back on our feet. He's a really terrific player, and I'll be glad to see him in red, for however long it might be.

Unless he fucking hates it here or had a guarantee of a starting place back there then we stand a good chance of getting him.

Also once you have the player on the board its way easier to negotiate a lower price.

Even if he does well & leaves then the owners can see Rodgers picks the right premium players & will be more likely to back him.
