Maradona

I've watched hours of Maradona videos over the last week. Today's so called "flair" players are plodding pansies compared to him. It's ruining me. Oh, and every single tackle on him would have been a yellow and many red. I'm coming to believe he is the greatest ever.

1986 World Cup, 37 minutes of his highlights.

The bench demurs. Maradona was extraordinary but George Best - Manc though he may have been - could do everything Maradona could do, in a football environment at least as violent, AND put in some of those tackles himself when he got fed up with lack of service and came deep looking for the ball. No-one since, Maradona included, has had a skillset as comprehensive as Best's and I confidently expect never to see his like again.

Imagine solving the hardest problem in physics, and then solving the hardest problem in finance, problems so hard that the rest of the world is forced to brush them off as impossible dreams beyond our understanding, imagine doing those things and then dreamy of all people steps up to question your intelligence. You're damn right I have to wonder.
I knew I recognised you from somewhere. Stockholm 2009 Nobel award ceremony.
I was the one in the crowd shouting "stop the cunt"!

It's frustrating there's so little decent footage of Best in his prime. I never saw him, except as a kid when he'd pop up on the news, looking bloated, turning out for some non-league team. As for Maradona, I've not had any desire to seek out any old clips; he was great at the time but I can't stand the soap opera-style crap about him.

... and that was when he was at United...

Boom-tish... it’s the way I tell ‘em.

The greatest trick Dantes ever pulled off was convincing the world he was intelligent 😉
