Manchester United v Liverpool Match Thread

Utd's cup final. Unless they have to win in order to avoid relegation.

Hard to argue we even deserved that point.

Good twenty minute spell second half where we played well.

Only things to be pleased with our the positive impacts of the three subs, all of whom were a but rusty but affected the match in the best way possible.

I sense the same dissapointment. But we defo deserved a point. If no other reson then the opposition deserved no more than a point.

WTF didn't we play the last twenty for 90 mins ? Hendo and Gini created SFA and Lallana made a huge difference when he came on. We needed to create space and none of our midfielders were capable of that .. which changed with the introduction of Lallana (esp.) but also Ox and Keita.

A point gain. Not sure we deserve any more. Controversy on their goal. As expected cagey affair. Form our of the window. At least no panic.

Some weird VAR decisions, and a ref who was a homer cunt, but we played like cunts until the last 20 minutes and very nearly bottled it entirely
Yet we'd won it if not for Atkinson.

Terrible refereeing.
It's not only their goal which he should have disallowed, but also "standard" whistles for fouls.
A few minutes after booking Fabinho, he let Young and Rojo (twice) off the hook.
There were about 3-4 minutes wasted on VARs in the first half yet only 1 minute added.

We're not enjoying the best of periods, but hopefully we'll get through it with maximum points.

Poor performance we only started playing after 80 mins, the build up from the tabloids was stupidly epic but their goal shouldn’t have stood after the blatant foul on Origi, maybe our VAR goal was unlucky as it was ball to hand, but in the end it was a very hard fought draw and I ain’t too fussed about the record as long as we stay focused.

I didn't think it was a foul on Origi.

It does once again ask some of those big questions we've all been discussing for ages;

The first-choice midfield can look horribly pedestrian at times.
We should not have to start a player like Divock Origi when Salah (or anyone gets injured)
We need alternative striking options to Firmino
Joel Matip is always only two poor games away from losing his place to Gomez
We can look a better team when Henderson isn't playing
Why did we spend 90m Chamberlain and Keita?
What has Shaqiri done wrong?

Yes, but isn't Shaq injured?

Poor performance. Disappointing. But always knew it would be a tough match. A point isnt the end of the world. And better that we scored and equalizer than conceding one, even if the impact on the table is the same.

Poor performances from Firmino, Origi. Mane was kept quiet. Hate international breaks.

Not much to argue with here unfortunately. Origi is good off the bench but not a starter. And the bench today in general was uninspiring. Can't imagine how Shaqiri would not have been a good option to pick from for subs.

The subs were good.

Gini disappeared in the 2nd half.

Poor from our capt.

Trent's delivery were gash.

Moot point. Wonder whether Gini could have taken Salah's place as forward. He scores when further forward.

Piss poor performance until we made the subs and scored. But we've still only lost 1 of our last 48 league games. We didn't lose there and we've played 9, won 8 and drawn 1. Hardly the end of the world but I do wish we'd treat them like the cunts they are and smash them there.

The fuck..

I did and I didn't.

It was a foul in the sense that he got kicked, and the ref could've blown up.

But he wasn't really in control of the ball, and VAR was never going to overturn it when they looked at it. Wasn't a refereeing howler.

The fuck..
I agree with this, he hardly touched him - it was Mane-like.

We've been in touch with the PGMOL after Marcus Rashford's opening goal was allowed to stand.
Firstly, the on-field referee didn’t think it was a foul and VAR checked/decided that it wasn’t a clear and obvious error to not award the foul.
Secondly, VAR isn’t re-refereeing matches, there is contact but VAR was comfortable it wasn’t enough to disallow the goal.
