Any ideas of citys line up? It's good that Yaya isn't available, he was a monster against us the last time.
Yaya, Kompany and Kolo is out. Silva is a doubt.
That would leave Lescott and Savic as the probable defensive partnership. Thats much preferable to Toure and Kompany.

I'd play Gerrard on the right of a 4231 and let him both roam and pull wide to whip in some quality balls for Carroll.
Yeah..

---------------------Reina----------------
----Johnson--Skrtel--Agger--Enrique----
---------------Adam----Henderson---------
-------SG------------Jonjo----------Bellers------
-------------------Jimmy Nail---------------
I like that also. Bellamy and Gerrard are our best two players at taking on players, followed by Enrique and Johnson, so it looks very good down the wings. Bellers and Enrique will find it tough against Richards, but Gerrard and Johnson could have some joy against Clichy, I hope that Kolarov doesn't play, he's hugely underrated..
They might also put Richards as a CB
Indeed, he's a fantastic full back though, so if he goes to centre back at least it'll weaken their right back.

Wonder how Mancini will priority this one. if some of the key players are doubtful he risk weakening his squad further for the upcomming league games (Wigan away, Spurs home).
I put a few quid on Skrtel to score first, 47/1
Not a bad bet Onions. He's looked very dangerous at corners and with big Vince in the stands they'll be weaker at defending corners.

Aurelio in the middle
We we're ravaged by injury when he played there in the Pompey game years ago. Theres no way Kenny will play him there with Gerrard, Shelvey, Adam, Hendo and Spearing all available. Get out of it Modo! 😉
Thanks for the info. Didn't he play there against Arsenal as well?

Anyway, he's a better option than Spearing IMO but he might not even start.

This game is important, but Stoke on saturday is also a game of great importance. 3 poins is a must.

I'd field a strong team tonight, but with one eye on saturdays game.

I like Fabio but I wouldnt underestimate Spearings job in a game like this. Constantly snapping ancles gives the two other central midfielders time and space to focus on keeping the ball. What we need to do better than last roundout at Etihad is to attack their box.

I thought Spearing was rubbish against them last time, no disrespect to the lad he was over run. It's all well and good having a ton of energy and tenacity and snapping away at them, but that doesn't work against the best. Spearing isn't good enough for that job yet against the best, Lucas bossed them because he's a monster midfielder, I honestly think Henderson and Gerrard in the middle will do a much better job than Spearing for this one, and to be fair, Henderson was our best player in the 3-0 defeat.

I don't think we were bossed in midfield at all. We had more than 50% possession, and were pretty comfortable in midfield I thought. In fact, City didn't really engage in a midfield battle for much of the game. After Reina's howler, they played us on the break.

Bossed was a strong word, but Yaya could run through our midfield like it wasn't there, that didn't happen when Lucas was playing. My point anyway was simply, because Spearing is tenacious and can run a lot, doesn't mean he'll be able to control there midfield.

Who is it, on here, who has an old black (apologies for being racist) and white TV that we never lose when he watches matches on it?

Seems like it shoudl be got down fromn the attic tonight ...

City had nada in midfield all night. Yaya had a few runs late in the game... i cant believe people are being caught up in that hype.

They strolled through our midfield, Agueros first goal is a good example, he had loads of time outside our area. We may have bossed them when we had the ball, but we were so blunt I think they were happy with that, when they had the ball though they were completely comfortable.

And to call Yaya just hype is just silly.

apparanly no jose, bit of a strange one, looks like johnson on the left
Very strange, I can't see the benefit of playing Johnson there as Enrique has been a brick at the back. At least i dont have to see anymore of his stupid over dribble.

Reina, Kelly, Agger, Skrtel, Johnson, Spearing, Gerrard, Henderson, Downing, Carroll, Bellamy

no surprises. looks like adam is paying the price for his two fuck ups.

Watch out for both Bellamy and Downing trying to get behind there defence with there pace, I think that's going to be our main game plan. Any news on City's line up?

Good team that, Enrique must be injured as it would be strange to rest him in this game
