Man Utd and the Spice Boys

The article is far too long TBH and needed drastic pruning, but still interesting overall.

Uncle Roy was Brendan Rodgers Mark 1, in that both had an attacking vision without being able to balance it with effective defending. It wasn't all down to the manager though - there was a serious lack of professionalism among the players and, even though Uncle Roy was too lax in what he let them get away with, I reckon the article is correct in suggesting even Ferguson would have had a job getting that particular group of individuals to knuckle down and finish what they often started so well.

I Read Collymore's autobiography on holiday and he says Liverpool were a joke under Evans. No rules, discipline, or respect apparently. Houllier changed all of that.

Piedro: I haven't read Collymore's book but that sounds like the typical kind of self-excusing half-truth you'll often find in players' autobiogs. Such statements will often be not exactly wrong but will also be no more than half the story, and some of what's left out will almost certainly be the player's own fault.

Collymore isn't exactly the type of character that reacts well to authority.

Collymore is a prick and I really didnt enjoy his book at all. But he gave quite a few examples of behaviour which just shouldnt be acceptable. He didnt try and deny that any of it was his fault, he just said there were no real rules in place. It was pretty much a free for all. And I can believe that by the way.
