There were some sumptuous moments in the first half, although, let's be honest, it could have been 3-2 by half time.

Mane's header was glorious - I haven't seen a great diving header like that for ages.

Yet again we wasted chances like small time Las Vegas gamblers who assume another explosion of pennies will follow the next yank of the arm we go for.

Gomez was promising, although he was so maddeningly gauche at times, especially that horrible over-hit pass that could have set up the fourth goal.

Firmino, for someone who's sometimes been accused of lacking pace, showed he's able to keep up with Mane and Salah pretty well.

I think on balance - seeing as no one deserved MOM in the second half - I'd give it to Firmino for his 45 minutes of sensational work rate and movement.

I thought Salah had a very quiet game, even in the first half. Coutinho was good in the 1st, disappeared in the 2nd. Firmino and Mane fought throughout and I thought Lovren and Gomez made some good plays in defense. Karius deserves some praise for pulling off a couple very difficult saves, even though he was fortunate the ball bounced onto the frame of goal twice. Finally, I thought Can did well after coming on and helped to win back control of the midfield for us.
