Is Sterling suspended for this one post Bournemouth?

Bernando Silva has looked decent, but it feels like KDB and David Silva have had slow starts. Kyle Walker also suspended or was he just a 1 match ban?

Taken from the BBC:

TEAM NEWS

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany is a doubt after picking up a minor calf injury while playing for Belgium.
Right-back Kyle Walker is available after a one-match ban, but Raheem Sterling is suspended as a result of his red card at Bournemouth.
Liverpool's Philippe Coutinho could be involved after he featured for Brazil in World Cup qualifying.
Deadline-day signing Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is in line for a debut after his £35m transfer from Arsenal.
However, full-back Nathaniel Clyne and midfielder Adam Lallana are both long-term absentees.

  • Liverpool have scored in 13 successive games against City in all competitions.
Manchester City
  • Manchester City have lost one of their past 23 home games in the league (W13, D9).
  • They are currently on an 11-game unbeaten run, their best under Pep Guardiola (W8, D3).

  • Aguero's next goal will make him the Premier League's highest non-European goalscorer, overtaking Dwight Yorke's record of 123 goals.
Liverpool

The score draw with Aguero first scorer for them looks like a bet.

Kdb played very deep against Bournemouth, like holding player / playmaker deep it was a bit odd and not wholly effective.

Sterling's suspension probably remedies that

I want someone to do a whole chalkboard schtik and explain how Man City play vs how we're likely to counter them. I could be wrong, but it seems to me we should be playing similarly tactically to the Arsenal game, shouldn't we? Not battle them for possession but allow them the ball and break explosively. Is this the way of it? Has Pep a plan B we should be aware of apart from tiki-taka bellendery?

Not sure on his plan B or C, but he is a clever bastard. Lucky for us he is sometimes far to clever for his own good.

His problem is obv how to set up the defence to meet the pace we have at the moment. If not mistaken he has also used this 3 man defence, but both Arsenal and Hoffenheim 3 men defence were teared apart by Our attack. So a 3 men defence could mean trouble unless he leave the wingbacks very low, which would look Extreme defensive at home? Hopefully Kompany is out so Otamendi and Stone will be the 2 man solution if he goes 4 back. They are ok defenders, but they seem a little bit tactically stupid, exposing each other (just like Our CD's). We should have plenty of chances to score at least, if we can capture the ball from them.

I think they need to worry about us more than we need to about them.

So i'm pretty confident about this game

There will be a good battle of the attacking full backs in this one too. Who will best hold their nerve and get their full back to push up to try and push the opposition one back.

Pep's teams have cruelly exposed by counter-attacking teams in the past but generally they've been very good defensively too.

This City team have lacked fight in the past though - I might be remembering incorrectly but I'm sure in the last couple of seasons we've dominated simply by pressing like demons and wanting it more.

Jürgen Klopp has confirmed Philippe Coutinho will not be included in Liverpool’s squad for Saturday’s Premier League clash with Manchester City.

The playmaker returned to Melwood on Thursday following international duty with Brazil and trained with his teammates ahead of the trip to the Etihad Stadium.
However, due to the back injury that ruled him out of the Reds’ first five fixtures of 2017-17, Coutinho will be afforded extra time to work on his fitness before being reconsidered for selection.
Klopp told his pre-match conference: “Phil came back the day before yesterday, but like Roberto, we sent them immediately home to get a few hours of sleep. We tried everything to organise as good as possible, as comfortable as possible, which is quite difficult in a week like this.
“Yesterday he was in and we had a very good talk, he was in a very good mood and his training was even better.
“But, I had to make the decision; it was so clear, we have seven games in the next three weeks. There will never be time to train, so we had this conversation. Before he went to Brazil, he couldn’t train for around about three weeks and that means we have to try to prepare him for the rest of the season and that’s quite difficult with our fixtures and our schedule.
“I decided to leave him out of the squad for City so we can use these four or five days for real and proper training. We got all the numbers from the Brazilian FA around the training and the intensity of training, it was all OK, but he played twice around about 15 or 20 minutes. He could have played 15 or 20 minutes again in the City game, maybe longer, but I think it makes sense [for him to train]. And by the way, he agreed completely; it was not that he said ‘No, I don’t need training, I want to play’ or whatever. It was a good conversation.”

Saw this on reddit, thought... I better add to it.

Thought the little fucking rat should have been on the bench which in fairness, without him, is gonna look very light for this big game.

Yep. Coutinho has missed a bit of pre season training. Will he be training by himself while the others are away tomorrow? I don't think so.
So I don't get why he can't be on the bench, unless Klopp thinks he will be useless.
If training is the big issue won't he get some training during the game, didn't he get a few sessions with Brazil?
Nah, I'm not convinced.

I don't think Coutinho stands between us winning or losing against City, we can probably beat them without him but I would have been more confident of a decent result if he was included in some capacity.
What if it's still 0-0 in the 80th?
Wouldn't it be a perfect time to gamble on the cunt?

I like what's Klopp done.

Were talking about confidence going In to arsenal and man city matches without coutinho

Personally i think its plain stupid. There's no way that anyone can say hes not good enough to be on the bench. He would have been a great option to come off the bench if we are struggling. Just hope it doesn't come to bite Klopp back in the face.

Relax man. If Klopp think he is better off training then listen to Klopp. If we are still 0-0 at 80 we probably will be 0-0 At 90 too... Klopp has lost one of the trillion games against top 6. Why don't you trust him on this one?

Make no mistake, this is the first of many acts and omissions that will follow from Klopp. All with the sole intention of destroying the little cunt, slowly breaking his will, bit by bit, until it is completely replaced by absolute obedience to his new German overlord.

Even if we lost, I wouldn't blame Klopp.
Lest we forget Coutinho was the one who ruled himself out of training and matches for nearly a month prior to the international break.
We could lose without him, and we could lose with him. I'm putting the trust in the players that worked their bollocks off while Coutinho's been away sulking.
