TAA is better than Gomez. Robertson is better than Moreno, Milner and Coutinho are better than Henderson and Wijnlaldum.

It seems that Kloop thinks Gomez = defensive RB and TAA = attacking RB therefore I see Gomez playing in this one. Disagree on Milner in CM. Wijnaldum scored the winner against City last season right? Big booming header? Keep him in. Although if Coutinho is fit then he needs to be on the pitch.

Augustus Kloop

We're in boss form, & in spite of what we fans may think about our defence, we're actually keeping a fair few clean sheets of late.

Add in Klopp's record against the top 6 & I'm confident we'll twat them, although not without conceding one or two in the process this time.

By leaving him out of away games we are going to risk further deepening the whole 'he doesn't perform away from home' idea. Make him step up. He's in form.

Form goes out the window after an international break. Most of the players returned to training today. Match prep is fucked.
Luckily, their match prep is fucked too.

If we start with the same team that beat Arsenal we might end up having this bench.
Subs:
Karius
Robertson
Klavan
Milner
Coutinho
Ox
Sturridge

Now remove Coutinho and replace him with, I don't know.. Grujic?
Fantastic midfield options.

I want someone to do a whole chalkboard schtik and explain how Man City play vs how we're likely to counter them. I could be wrong, but it seems to me we should be playing similarly tactically to the Arsenal game, shouldn't we? Not battle them for possession but allow them the ball and break explosively. Is this the way of it? Has Pep a plan B we should be aware of apart from tiki-taka bellendery?

Yeah, that's come a long way from last season.

Just to be pedantic, if we do start with the same team that beat Arsenal then Karius will be on the pitch.

The team and squad looks much better, but its still fucking annoying that we missed out on a centre back. K-Dawg shoudlnt be on the bench.

I don't buy that really, maybe individually in terms of output, but when it's about balance too..

Gomez is probably better than TAA defensively, though less so going forward (he still set up our first goal against Arsenal though)

Robertson v Moreno, probably yeah, but then who isn't?

Milner and Coutinho vs Henderson and Gini.... The latter two give us more balance in the big games, against a strong midfield, M&C will leave us exposed. Milner is great for setpieces and the occasional assists from wide, but he's shown he's not greatly disciplined in the middle of the park and Coutinho.. Great attacking but given recent problems, he'll be on the bench.
