I turned it off after they scored their third so I can't say much about what happened afterwards.

So what did the Man C game tell you/me?

1. We desperately need a defensive midfielder.
2. Our back line is fucking crap. I think TAA was the wrong player for this one. Gomez would have been better suited.
3. Being down to 10 men doesn't excuse 4 extra conceded goals. Klopp still hasn't got the defence right.
4. Our midfielders are too inconsistent.
5. Never expect a good result after an international week. Especially if we're playing away.
6. We desperately need a CB. Klavan doesn't cut it.
7. We lack creativity from midfield. A fit Coutinho would have made a difference. However at his current he wouldn't.

Feel for TAA , he looked uncomfortable the moment it took him 90 seconds to make that first throwing, went downhill from there

I think Klopp had to take some responsibility for the way the side conducted themselves i the second half .

Klavan can just fuck off to space.

The midfield trio reaffirmed what we already knew, a mess , wijnaldum is infurtiatingly inconsistent , Henderson and can just disappear.

Can we get Salah one of those goals my lad has where it's got the holes in the corner , he should have scored 4/5//6 more than he has this season

I don't think coutinho would've influenced that result too much but yeah the sooner he's in place of one of that trio the better

Shambles. Gotta try and forget and move on to the next one.

Is Lovren injured? Because Klavan was shite (as per usual). That decision not to have a backup to VVD is already looking costly.

It didn't show us anything we didn't already know. The defence is shite. The midfield is inconsistent. The front three paper up the cracks. Rotation will ensure we have good days and bad days but ultimately we won't be challenging for the title with this squad.

Havent seen us lose 5-0 more than once before I dont think. That was against Mainz pre-season friendly in 2006.Managed by Klopp werent they ? What a nightmare.Need to bounce back quick snap.

There isnt really any need for some in depth analysis. 10 men for an hour against City away. You wont find many answers judging by those 60 mins.

Should however have started Gomez and Lovren.

Ah well, on to the next game. Forget today.

It would be extraordinarily thick to try and dismiss this display as being entirely due to the sending off and having to play with 10 men.

Or call it a 'wake up call', because if anyone thought our summer transfer activity was satisfactory, doesn't deserve to wake up. Ever.

It simply highlighted the very well-known deficiencies in the team and in Klopp, who seems to be incapable of effective in-game tactical changes, and actually seems to make the wrong decisions every time

Coutinho's absence had little to do with anything at all.

This was a shameful disgrace

Mignolet (4) made a few decent saves to stop it from being about 8-0, but he's a jittery fuck and spreads panic

TAA (3) played like he'd won a competition to be LFC right back for the day. Inept from start to finish. Fucking shit.

Klavan (3) the Estonian Binman delivered the rubbish display everyone feared when Klopp made the infathomable decision to play the hapless cunt

Matip (4) he lolloped around the pitch like he was auditioning for that Kia-Ora ad from years ago. A lazy, sloppy, slow-motion disaster area

Moreno (4) seems weird that he wasn't the worst defender in a 5-0 demolition, but he was still shit

Henderson (4) An almost comically frenzied display of high-intensity cluelessness. Looking desperately around for help, an outlet, just anything. When Liverpool needed a calm, clear leader, he fell apart

Wijnaldum (3) the ghost of Anfield flitted around to zero effect, the massive shithouse

Can (5) Looked nothing like the midfield collossus of recent weeks. He was overrun and bypassed by the quicker, sharper City players. Mediocre.

Salah (4) odd decision to take him off even if he was playing poorly. Tentative and wasteful

Mane (n/a) Sent off for a high foot on the keeper. As soon as that happened it was horribly obvious we would get fucking battered

Firmino (3) Slow, flabby and did precisely fuck all

Subs: does anyone fucking care?

Chamberpot (4) isn't very good. But we all knew that

I can't be arsed with anymore scores, apart from:

Klopp (2) Odd choice at CB in his team selection. When we went down to 10 men he did just about everything wrong that was possible to get wrong

The best I'm hoping for this season is top 4, and quarters in the CL. Maybe we'll also take the League Cup very seriously and win it.

The title is out of the question with such a shambolic defence, ordinary keeper and no proper defensive midfielder. We've know this for ages.

But Klopp's game management is worrying. He doesn't seem to be able to do anything different when things don't go our way.

Here's my review. Art gallery was grand, wasn't really a fan of the exhibitions on at the moment. Went for coffee and lunch after. Hangover had gone thanks to the spa. Had some sort of parsnip hash brown, poached egg and pickled cauliflower. Then a blackberry and burnt brown sugar loaf. That was ace. And I missed the game.

Good day.

No values when analyzing this game. Don't know what happened after the sending off but we looked paralyzed rest of the first half. Game over and second half was just strange. But doesn't add anything as it was just odd.

When Mané got sent off we still had three midfielders on the pitch. How the fuck does a straight back 4 with two midfielders sitting in front, concede an additional four goals?
If that was Mascherano, Alonso or even fucking Sissoko and Alonso would that have happened?
I doubt that it would have happened with fucking Lucas on the pitch. I really don't see that midfield trio lasting.
I have no idea what our midfield is supposed to do except running. They don't defend well enough, they don't create enough chances, they're inconsistent as well. I really hope Coutinho is ready to take a spot in midfield for the next game so that Henderson and Can can concentrate on defending.

It would also be extremely thick to use the those 60 mins as some sort of conclusion to our issues/season prospects.

We wouldnt have lost 5-0 with 11 men.
And losing your shape and organization against a City team that are so good to find space in between the lines was no surprise.
Its hard enough with 11 men, with 10 and 2-0 its insanely tough.
Everton struggled badly against 10 men a few weeks ago.

The 3 back line with Can was a massive mistake though. The game was lost at half time, and it showed in our players.
That shite attitude needs fixing.

Roll on Wednesday.

It's not thick when it proves everything you said was correct

I just was watching now - and stopped after the red.
It was obvious it was over.

So, I think the ref was utterly shit - missed two blatant pushes (one on Gini - which led to their goal) and one on Matip (after he was pushed by Jesus). The red card - I'll go with Pep, who also feels red was harsh.

That being said - we should have been up 2-0 by the time they scored - Salah makes so many mistakes it's crazy.

Unfortunate scoreline - oh, and players on both teams go down far too easily. It's rather depressing what a bunch of fucking cheats most football players are.

It really is hard to take this result - because there are too many reasons to list but from the top:-

1) Sending off - don't what it is is but it seems that the entire team only gets confidence from Mane being on the pitch and playing with them.

2) Salah should not have been taken off - he was our only outlet up front that in such situations would have allowed us to play hoof ball with his pace an asset up front.

3) We did not lose a defender but a striker - so there was no excuse to concede 4 goals after the sending off - although we have experienced this before under defensive coaches like Rafa (remember against United when we lost Sami in the first 10 minutes - we lost that game 4-0 at old trafford).

4) I think a fundamental problem (which some may not say is a problem and could be an asset to a team) - is that we really give no consideration of the type of opposition we are up against. I mean our defense play needs to be aware of the strengths of the opposition - we were up against one of the best strikers in the world - they treat him like he was some cheap shit and got properly shafted for that attitude and approach.

5) Fucking cannot stand any of the media hype about this result - as they (City) looked like were for the taking before our sending off. We could have fucked them over with Mane on the pitch - but I want to add that having Firminio on that pitch after the sending off was a big mistake - we needed more strength and/or pace - none of his trickery or shit would have payed any dividends - he is just too slow for us up the pitch by himself. We all know he is not a game changer, but I think if our midfield or defense has a proper outlet to kick the ball to then it may have saved them from the excessive constant pressure applied by city.

I will get over this result once we fuck them (City) over - I cannot wait for that to happen or the match to come sooner. I will remember this result until the home fixture against them - put it in your diary lads - 13th January 2018 15:00 - obviously will be changed for TV but keep that date coz I want to really fuck them over. They are not 5-0 better than us in any way.

My review.
Missed the game for our annual trip to the UK and meeting up with my parents, this time in Stratford upon Avon and Warwick. Had a lovely time.

United were held at Stoke. Everton lost 0-3 at home. Brighton won 3-1. All good.

We are just 3 points off the top with a number of our players missing/injured. Better days ahead.

Unfortunately we are going to get a few more of these matches after our summer transfer window.

The defence is still poor and we will look even worse when our attack don't take our early chances. This was the difference between today's match and the arse match. If salah chance had gone in, it would have been a different game.

We gave up after sending off. Pathetic.

Klavan, TAA, Gini were terribly shit. Can, Hendo, Firmino not far behind.

Hendo is not captain material. Which captain lets his team lose 5-0 without a fight?

Ming needs to be replaced. His kicking is so bad it's laughable. Why do we even bother passing to him. It is interesting that Guardiola placed so much importance on a keeper who can kick and went out to spend so much money finding one that can, while we let Ming/Karius shit around for so many years.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola: "The game was tight, it was equal when it was 11 against 11. After the red card it was different - I know it's not easy to play against 10, it's easier but not easy.

"But we controlled the game and the second goal before half-time was so important. They changed the system and we spent a few minutes to adjust but after that we were in control.

"We think nothing is broken but Ederson has a big scar - hopefully he can come back as soon as possible. Of course it was not intentional from Mane because he was looking at the ball and didn't see the keeper but the impact is huge."

Red was unlucky but correct. Defence was shite as was midfield protection. Team lacks leadership qualities and we have a captain who bottles out of nearly every challenge he makes . Bad day at the office. Need a reaction now

Hard to take the results. We had a chance and a fight before the sending off, which a right decision though not a cynical one.

Nothing new on lack of DM and CB.

Shite performance after going down to 10 men but could easily have been 1-1 or 0-2 before that.

Hopefully it's the last we see of Klavan this season, I can't believe he was picked against that strike force.

It's criminal we didn't bring in a CB that is better than Klavan and even more so that the LB we brought in can't even make the bench never mind start ahead of Moreno.

Gini was gash again and Can showed why I'm not as hysterical as others wanting him to resign.

I think he's off the pace against the very best.

Salah will infuriate this season but he was our best outlet and all our chances came through him.

It also showed if it was needed that we badly need Coutinho back asap

The squad should all donate a weeks wages to charity as a gesture for being such gutless twats. 'The boys all agreed we did'nt deserve to be paid this week so we built this children's hospital instead'.

You'd think after the sending off we'd have knuckled down, got men behind the ball and made them work for it.

But no.... I turned it off after the 3rd - it was horrific.
