Magic to Disappear?

Glen seems to have trouble when he tries to cross it first time. He had a few stinkers but is also capable of providing a decent cross.

It would be crazy to sell him. He needs to work on his game and restore his confidence. When the team turns a corner, i'm sure Johnson will too.

roy wont stop until every attacking threat in the club has either been marginalised or removed all together.

actually, is there ANY player that is seeing the benefit of roy's system?

Carra and the Greek, I suppose: as fairly slow CBs, it's easier for them to defend deep than up on the halfway line.

I don't think carra has been that great this season (for whatever reason) I guess the greek is a good shout. the greek, our most lethel forward.

You had a point with the use of his system, but your first line is bullshit.
how so, look at meireles, his effectiveness has been marginalised by playing him on the right, agger's effectiveness has been marginalised by playing him at left back, gerrard's effectiveness has been marginalised by playing him too deep, torres' effectiveness has been marginalised by playing with his back to goal...

We might be in the same boat with a player who is better at attacking than defending. Ramos is great in the air though.

Sergio Ramos is very good defensively and has been for a couple of years now. He's much much better than Johnson defensively...and offensively for that matter.

Hodgson has been rubbish, but so's your suggestion that he's deliberately trying to remove or marginalise attacking threats.

This is based on your fantasy that he's an ultra-omega Defensor who wants to draw matches.

Meireles has been stupidly put on the right wing (I agree); most of Agger's games at LB have been caused by a lack of options (yes we really do miss his Hansen like contributions dont we?) and Gerrard is playing too deep for the main reason ( I think) THAT POULSEN SUCKS COCK.

Hodgson's main flaws are his inability to fit his players into the best system (which you've touched on) ; not because he's super-defensive.

Everyone is playing far too deep because of the way Hodgson sets up his teams. It's not Poulsens fault we retreat deep into our half when we lose the ball.
Yes, cause the fat waster was so attack oriented.

Roy has always tried to set his side up as being difficult to beat, unfortunately it hasn't worked too well for him.

Re: Meireless, the problem is he has played players out of position, furthermore he keeps changing where he's playing them too. So Meirless has been playing in a different position, in different formation in every game since he's been here.
the bottom line is, if liverpool were a team that held a higher line and pressed the opposition more johnnson would be spending more time in the opposition half where his attacking ability would shine, and less time in our half where is defensive ability is being exploited.

roy has often been fielding two holding midfielders but because were defending so deep and conceeding most of the possession the defenders are being tested time and time again needlessly, even the likes of carra are looking dubious.
More or less spot on.

Johnson for me is one of the clubs greatest assets. Yes he can improve defensively (and overall as well for that matter) but everyone with half a brain would rekognize his talent.

He needs to be played to his strengths though and untill we as a team are more attacking-minded he'll struggle as has a lot of our players mind.

For all his weaknesses he's still been one of few players we can still rely on to create something when going forward and he's still been far better than say Konchesky on the other side.

Alongside Reina, Carra, Agger, Gerrard, Cole, Kuyt and Torres he should be one of the first names on the teamsheet. Really hope we don't sell him.

Not that it matters like but the Greek looked like a Non-league player defending-wise against Blackpool. He's was laughably poor (only Carra wasn't in the back-four mind) and he probably only should be used as a sub when behind or when playing against Stoke Longthrow FC.

He's simply not good enough on the ground if there's just the slightest of movement around him.

I know about Konchesky just coming in mate and beeing injured. But he's at least familiar with the Premiership and yet has still managed to look so much out his depths it's been worrying.

You say Johnson haven't played more than one good game so far which I think is right. But on the other hand has anyone in the team managed more than that at this stage? People need to realize that when the team is suffering as an unit the players will most certainly do as well. Also why Konchesky has probably looked so poor. And many others too.

I'm positive we'll see a completely different team come Everton when it comes to belief and morale. The off-field shenanigans has taken it's toll on everyone from manager to players and I'm sure with Red Sox coming in we'd instantly see improvements everywhere.

It IS very optimistic mate but that's really the only way forward at this stage in my opinion. The ownership-issue seems to be reaching a closure and we can hopefully move upwards and onwards from this day on. The players, manager et all will gain confidence from this and there'll hopefully be a bit of crisp and positive Autumn air surrounding Liverpool these comming months instead of that gravy-like pessimism-infested twat-air of late.

It was a burned cunt of a gravy I was referring too.

That reminds me. I'm going to serve some handsome Pepper-stakes tonight for our guests - anyone's got a good gravy-suggestion up their sleeve? Would be preferred if it was Southern European inspired. Thank you.

People can disagree over his crossing ability, but a majority of crosses are ridiculously overhit. I can accept that from a fullback, but from a winger? Piss take

Cheers mate maybe I'll give that a go then. I was thinking a about a sweet orange-like gravy too. Lots of cream, butter and sugar and a bit of orange, brandy and salt and pepper.

*I've gained 4 pounds just by dreaming about it.
