Madrid get Real over Suarez swoop

His ban is European-wide, I think. So any sensible club would surely want to see how well he controls himself once he comes back before considering investing £40m+ on someone who might saddle them with one crisis after another. Then again, Real is one of the most irrational operators around...

It might be that the biting incident ends up keeping him here as all the top teams in need of striking reinforcements seem to have other first choice targets. I guess Real have already missed out on Neymar but there are other options - I still wonder whether Falcao will be heading their way in the not too distant future.

I wish someone at our club would show some backbone and ring this cunt up and tell him to shut his piehole . Right he might want to move but does he need to bang on about it and cause a 'storm' over here ? . He's got a contract , we should make the rules . Although if they've been stupid enough to give him a buy-out clause then they've left themselves powerless to alot of what he does .

I don't think that can be right macca, else wouldn't barton have been banned in france?
I'm sure he must be eligible to play over there.

I don't think he's going anywhere anyway 🙂

I will believe it when I see it...

I'd believe it less if he came out and said as much, he shouldn't have to dismiss every rumour, but this has been going on for days now. If it was bollocks there would have been an official statement from him or the club or both. I'd be very surprised if he's with us next season and as much as I do think the media have it in for him, we've backed him to the hilt and he's using the media shit and his family as a copout. If he goes after us bending backwards for him twice, I don't think I'll have hated a player more.

So true, and it stinks even more when he regularly lets everyone know how much he loves LFC and wants to stay.

I honestly can't understand how and why people seem to think he's right to want away. He has 4 years left on his contract and soon as the going gets tough - most of which he's to blame or himself, he goes running his mouth off the press that he wants to leave.
Some people will defend him no matter what.

Hounded out? Suarez is a misunderstood victim of the Press (as long as you forget about the biting, diving and the racism)

Forgive my presumption in speaking for the whole British sporting Press, but on this one I think we are in total agreement: if we journalists have ever characterised Mr Luis Suarez as an occasional racist or castigated him for repeatedly planting his gnashers into fellow professionals, we offer our unreserved apologies.

We readily admit that Suarez's sportsmanship is exemplary and, even if he has uncharacteristically stepped marginally out of line from time to time, he has always taken his punishments calmly, thoughtfully and contritely.

He has worn his responsibility as a role model to Liverpool fans and watching millions on TV with the utmost seriousness you would expect of a superstar player earning approximately £120,000 a week. Above all, if we ever implied he has cast himself as a victim, we will flagellate ourselves in front of the Kop.

Forgive the parody but how else can we respond after Suarez - a player of vision, speed and dexterity in a Liverpool team overly dependent on his skills, but a recidivist little thug none the less - uttered on Uruguayan radio typically weasel words that appeared to presage his departure from Anfield, one year into a five-year contract?

‘Liverpool want me to stay, but it would be difficult to say no to Real Madrid,’ he started off, seemingly angling for a move which seems likely to be confirmed in the next few days despite his agent, Pere Guardiola, later saying unconvincingly that the player remains happy on Merseyside.

Suarez, who has been spoken of as a target by Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, continued: ‘I have a family who are also suffering and it has gone beyond the limit. I am not prepared to keep on putting up with the English journalists. I have fought too hard since I was a child to get where I am to let some journalists batter me in an unfair way.

'I am not prepared to keep on putting up with the English journalists. I have fought too hard since I was a child to get where I am to let some journalists batter me in an unfair way.

'They don't judge me as a player; only for my attitude. They speak about me like they have known me all my life.'

Well, I am happy to take him up on his offer to get acquainted, if he promises not to bite. But while I await the invitation, we will just have to judge him by his deeds.

The crime sheet is extensive. Sent off on his international debut. Banned by Ajax for a half-time altercation with team-mate Albert Luque. Criticised for celebrating wildly after Ghana missed a penalty, caused by his deliberate handball on the line, during the quarter-finals of the last World Cup.

Then, we come round to his first instance of biting, on the shoulder of PSV Eindhoven's Otman Bakkal. Once banned, he never played for the club again.

Arriving at Liverpool in January 2011, he at first confined his misdemeanours to diving. But that was just a warm-up act for the racist abuse he unleashed on Manchester United's Patrice Evra last season.

I was prepared to cut Suarez some slack on the basis of his tough background in Salto, close to the Argentinian border. Thankfully, the FA taught him what he appeared slow to learn, namely that abusing a player on the grounds of skin colour is unacceptable in society, and not least at a club of Liverpool's prestige, by clobbering him with an eight-game ban.

Alas, Liverpool were craven. Their decision to wear T-shirts supporting Suarez before the Evra case had been resolved by the FA was a prejudicial and ill-judged show of solidarity.

Suarez's failure to shake Evra's hand in his first match back showed a lack of remorse. It was a shame the most celebrated player in Liverpool's history, Kenny Dalglish, was manager during this moral mess. The cooling influence of the club's legendary former secretary Peter Robinson was evidently missed.

All the while, Liverpool were bending over to accommodate the one player who so often elevated them from the mediocre. So when he bit Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic in April, there was little chance of John W Henry and the Anfield management acting as they should have done by terminating his contract.

Was that expecting too much in a sport that is a multi-billion-dollar business? Perhaps, but they could certainly have taken it upon themselves to ban him themselves, as Manchester United had when Eric Cantona, then their most celebrated performer, Infamously kung-fu kicked a fan.

No, Brendan Rodgers was as indulgent as Dalglish.

'I honestly believe the punishment has been made against the man and not the incident,' said Rodgers. Indeed. That is how justice works: repeat offenders are dealt with more heavily than first-time miscreants.

No doubt many Liverpool fans will be unhappy if Suarez goes, fearing that Champions League qualification will only prove more elusive for longer.

That said, his effectiveness has been compromised by his many bans, and the supporters, who have just parted with up to £850 for season tickets, have been short-changed by him as a result.

Certainly, Suarez, 26, and his people have calculated that Liverpool is not the ideal place for him to spend the peak years of his career, hence the talk of Real being hard to turn down.

That is understandable. But his probable departure is nothing to do with his portrayal in the Press, which makes no apology for reporting both his brilliance and his flaws.

He's gone. And by pulling the media card he proves himself an idiot and a coward.

Go to Madrid then you rascist, biting n diving coward of a cunt. Oh btw perhaps you should consider cutting your teeth off a bit, you look like an idiot with massive teeth.

He is a total bellend and has been ever since he made a public fool out of Kenny by promising to bury the hatchet between him and Evra only to make a liar out of Dalglish infront of the world's press. It was clear then that we were dealing with a player totally devoid of any respect for this club or its traditions. Unfortunately we were at a low ebb during his time with us and its hard not to feel that he had blatantly manipulated his standing at the club to conduct himself however he pleases. He doesn't even have the integrity to leave with good grace, he has to kick up another shit storm in the press and force his way out in an unpleasant manner.

Some people might miss him but I won't, he's an absolute moron with no concept of reality. We should focus zero percent of our energies on keeping him and 100% on extracting every single penny possible from Madrid over this, force him to hand in a request show him up for the hypocrite he is and then move on. Good riddance

Indeed. But we've got every right to feel let down. Standing by him through biting and rascism.
In the end, footballers dont give a shite unless you're local lad with a bit of heart.

If he wants out then just leave so we'll have loads of time to put a quality team together.

"Real Madrid have offered Luis Suarez a four-year contract - and he is ready to tell Liverpool he wants to go.

Suarez’s agent, Pere Guardiola - brother of new Bayern Munich boss Pep - is thrashing out personal terms with the Spanish giants ahead of a possible £25million transfer.

Real have proposed a £140,000-a-week for the striker, with incentives and bonuses on top for trophies won, goals scored and appearances.

Now, of course, they need to strike a deal with Liverpool.

Uruguayan Suarez will make it clear he wants to move to the Bernabeu, and has already laid the groundwork by admitting it “would be hard” to snub Real and blaming the English press for unfair coverage of his bans for racially abusing one opponent and biting another.

He's since told a press conference ahead of Uruguay's friendly against France that "it's a good moment for a change of environment."

He may have to force the issue by making it hard for Liverpool to not sell a player who wants out.

Real believe there is a £40m buy-out clause in the controversial 26-year-old's contract, but will only go to £25m as a straight-cash fee.

Instead, they are prepared to offer a player-plus-cash deal of £20m plus their Spain Under-21 forward Jose Callejon."

Yeah, we should feel let down by the bitey, racist, cheat.

Its so out of character

Barton WAS banned in France. He moaned at the FA cos they were too slow to register it and it cost him another Mae in France.

The ban stands abroad.

The right hand side is not anywhere near as abig a sample as the left and should be treated with caution.

Loads of the usual twats on here abusing him and calling him a cunt. If you want him to go, fine, but calling him a cunt? Fuck that.
If he really is manufacturing a move, after all the assurances last season, after ripping into the press for misquoting him about his desire to leave, after all the support his club and supporters gave him, I think the least we deserve is to call him a cunt.

If he stays, we'll go back to calling him our very own adorable cunt.

I can see it now. Suarez gone, and when we' re struggling in a game, one of the very same cunts, will spout something like, if only we had a tricky forward who could beat plays and score 30 goals in a season. Brendan Rogers is a cunt for not having a player like that....and so it will continue.

I'm not happy flappy but I wish some of these pricks would fuck off and watch Man City. Suarez is one of THE best players in the world today. He plays for us, our club. But not content with that some people WANT him to fuck off? Unfuckingbelievable.

Transport me back to 80's when fans knew a players worth to the team...
