For no reason other than gut instinct I believe that we have hit rock bottom for this season and tonight will be the start of our rise from the mire.
Still haven't given up hope on having some success this season yet.

If Voronin starts I'll cry
tears of joy
I thought I was the last of the Voronin apologists around, looks like i've company.

It's not that I rate him or want him to ever start but at least he tries to play it intelligently and has a nice touch about it. Poor Andrei, his body just can't match what his brain is thinking.

Fuck Voronin. He was absolutely awful at the weekend.

--------------Masher-----------Lucas-------------------
----------------------Aquilani----------------------------
------Kuyt--------------------------------Yossi--------
-----------------------Torres----------------------------

If he played well/scored some fuckin goals I might start to take him more seriously.

I've got a feeling that we'll see both Agger, Aquilani and Torres start tonight.
If he start Torres, we might never see Torres for another a month or so because he might need a surgery. Let us see what the genius plan tonight.
This may not have occurred to you but I think Rafa is in a better position to make that call than you. Y'know, what with all the expert medical advice and stuff.

Thanks for the warning though.
is that the same medical staff that told benitez that aquilani would be fit between 4-8weeks? 😉

So if you got ill or hurt, you'd go to Glock for advice rather than trained medical staff?

I'm sick of hearing this shit, both when it's used as an example of Benitez having hard luck (there are plenty of actual examples), and when it's used as an example, by those who have no fucking clue about the specifics of any of the injuries our players incur.

Predicting recovery from injury is not an exact science, and is highly individualized, especially with the aggressive recovery schedules and methods used by top tier athletics.

As regards Voronin, you have to be a bit careful what you say about individual players in a game like this or you can end up with egg over your face.
I think he is pretty hopeless but he did well in the German league, so who knows
It's not great position is it? In fairness though no one could have planned very well for this set of circumstances.
However, if it is one thing Rafa is good at, it is one-off back against the wall matches, and these sort of games can end up as being a kick starts, and more than once we have seen unlikely heroes born, and people slotting into positions that we would not expect.
Let's hope it's that way tonight.

regards

Evening, Vlad. Voronin is not without ability and has some footballing intelligence but he lacks that ever so precious commodity that can make such a difference at the top level which is extreme pace. For that reason, he is unlikely to play regularly enough to produce his best form for Liverpool however, if he plays tonight, I'm sure we'll all be wishing him the best.

Liverpool: Reina, Carragher, Agger, Kyrgiakos, Insua, Kuyt, Lucas, Mascherano, Benayoun, Voronin, Torres.

Subs: Cavalieri, Aquilani, Babel, Ngog, Spearing, Darby, Ayala.

You knew you weren't the last..I did think you were part of the last two though!!

I was really hoping for a *special* Liverpool performance tonight.

You know, like Marseille away.. or Juventus away.. where we go and get the result we're after despite the odds..

.. then I saw Voronin, and almost all hope has been lost. I'd rather Rafa played himself than that waster. Only Fernando can save us tonight..

We need Kuyt to step up a bit, and hope for a bit of magic from Benny and Torres too, before they're taken off. At least the bench has a few attacking options, obviously not proven or great ones, but better than some we've seen before.

Not confident at all with that line up 🙁
Except starting an unfit Aquilani there isn't much else that can be played tonight.

I would have started him no questions, now is not the time to protect players if you can walk you play

it all depends though on how some of these players do, if they put in another gutless performance (which im half expecting) then i'll be disappointed
